Application Engineer/Product Engineer - Filters - Auto Components (5-10 yrs)

- Currently Working in Auto Components Industry Is Must
- Prior Experience in Engine Filters Design Is Preferable.
PURPOSE
The Product Engineer for Filters will be responsible for all the engineering aspects needed for product realization. The work includes the reverse engineering of OE Air, Oil and Cabin filter samples; the design and creation of drawings, models, and assemblies; creation of bills of materials and validation of supplier drawings and PPAPs.
Job Duties :
- Reverse engineer existing components using physical measurements
- Utilize Solid works and other CAD systems for design and creation of product
- Work closely with other members of the Purchasing and Quality teams on supplier development and approval
- Responsible for providing engineering review and approval for products or material resourced to best cost countries
- Publish and maintain drawings with our global engineering centers
- Convert scanned assemblies into drawings and models for development
- Provide support to Sales, Customer Service, Quality, Product Marketing, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Distribution Center for issues related to Filters
- Ensure department and organization KPI's are met
- Contribute to Continuous Improvement activities focused on both product construction and manufacturing processes
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education :
Bachelor of Science Engineering Degree (preferably in Mechanical Engineering)
Minimum experience
-
Experience reverse engineering components for aftermarket development
- Experience with CAD systems (Both 2-D and 3-D) - CREO or Solid works is preferred
- Experience with 3-D scanning technology and converting scans to models
- Familiarity with AIAG core tools such as PPAP, APQP, FMEA
- Experience with GD&T and Metrology
- Familiarity with ISO 9001/16949 Quality Management System requirements
- Knowledge of Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, etc.)
- Strong analytical skill sets including problem solving techniques such as Fishbone, 5-Why
- Ability to work in a cross-functional environment
- Excellent communication skills
