Assistant Manager/Manager - Lighting system (3-8 yrs)
Automotive Lighting Design Engineer (Mechanical/ Automobile engineer)
Role Summary :
Design and develop exterior vehicle lighting systems, including headlamps, tail lamps, and fog lamps. Act as the technical liaison with internal teams, partners, and external customers to deliver production-ready lighting solutions that meet regulatory and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead conceptualization and detailed design of automotive lighting assemblies from initial concept through production release.
- Create and refine 3D models, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation using preferably Unigraphics.
- Develop master sections, style surfaces, and mature design concepts into manufacturable products.
- Ensure designs comply with automotive industry standards and regulations standards.
- Design components with consideration for tooling, injection moulding, assembly, and manufacturability.
- Perform tolerance analysis, stack-up studies, and engineering calculations to validate designs.
- Conduct product benchmarking, manage engineering changes, and maintain configuration control.
- Prepare and maintain engineering records, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Participate in failure investigations and root-cause analysis; implement corrective actions.
- Apply DFMEA and DFM/DFA principles to minimize risk and optimize assembly processes.
Required Skills and Knowledge
3D Modelling: Advanced proficiency in Unigraphics.
Design Fundamentals: Strong grasp of concept development, styling integration, and engineering design methods.
Manufacturing Awareness: Knowledge of tooling, moulding processes, plastic material selection, and joining techniques.
Engineering Analysis: Experience with tolerance analysis, stack-up, and basic design calculations.
Quality and Risk Tools: Familiarity with DFMEA, DFM/DFA, change management, and product benchmarking.
Regulatory Understanding: Working knowledge of automotive lighting regulations and certification requirements.
Experience and Qualifications
- Proven experience in automotive lighting design or related automotive component development.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering designs through development to production.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
- Strong documentation practices and experience maintaining engineering records.
