A few notes on what most profiles miss:

- real hw engineering: Qfd, component engineering. Some profiles only have execution of schematics, layout, but don- t do entire design choices. similarly several profiles only do testing

- role of hw integration with E2E view; involving knowledge of or working with industrial designers, mechanical engineers, customers

- role of consultant

- preferably has various experiences (companies and projects)

- RF knowledge and integration

- Batteries knowledge and integration

- Power supply design, optimisation of power consumption

- actuators & sensors

- design for manufacturing, regulatory, safety compliance

Project Scope

We are creating a wireless public Iot network in India, deploying first in Mumbai and Bangalore, then Delhi, all by May 2016. This network uses a new radio technology that require specific RF chipsets, for which an ecosystem does not exist yet in India. will support partners or customers doing their IoT applications, explaining how to use network and facilitating the integration of RF chipsets. will develop a few demo applications. will develop at least one commercial application on its own. This project is in startup mode and requires highly skilled profiles that will be able to drive the development nearly from scratch of network, applications, support to customers and partners, business development. Team expected to be based in Mumbai for the majority. All members expected to be mobile and travel across India.

A few sub-project are identified as below, and referred by the different profiles required:

- network deployment engineering, radio planning and network deployment

- network OSS/BSS OSS/BSS platform to manage the network and interface with customer's IoT application servers (through an API in the cloud)

- AEP an IoT Application Enablement Platform will be required. It is application of type Thingworx, Axeda.. (choice to be made) that enable rapid development of IoT applications. It will serve the commercial application thatintends to develop; it will also serve customers requirements, for those who need an AEP in SaaS mode including message storage and application building blocks; finally it can also be used for demo applications if it makes sense.

- Demo applications Goal is to design, develop, implement small generic IoT demo applications using network and different type of sensors. Demo app purpose is to showcase IoT network, validate concept with customers, demonstrate how to develop IoT applications. It will be materialized by device that pre-sales can show in customer's location, send message to network, and display result on a portal or smartphone. It should include versions that enable to change sensors. It can also include the design and production of marketing devices given in certain events. Demo apps include sensors and simple hw platforms/application back end. It can also include development kit that we provide to our customers to learn how to use our AEP.

Commercial application, Is launching the development of a commercial IoT application that involves to design new devices, develop an IoT application backend, Android app and portal, interfaces with 3rd parties including retailers, ordering & billing capabilities of a consumer application

Roles and responsibilities

- The IoT hardware integration architect will be part of the product development team.

- For connected devices developed by (Demo apps, Commercial application): Realize device conceptualization, specifications for CDM company, identifies candidate CDM/design offices, follow realization of devices and discuss detailed specifications, realize the tests of devices and validate deliverables.

- Covers all aspects from design to manufacturing: form factors, materials, manufacturing process, electronics design, battery and power circuitry, transceiver, antenna, sensors

- Is in charge of manufacturing sw installation: factory implemented sw, device IDs, security keys, secure exchanges of keys with manufacturer

- Validation of prototypes and commercial samples cover all criteria including quality of assembly, durability, MCU power consumption, antenna efficiency, antenna balance, battery efficiency, flashed program and security keys..

- verifies the quality of production of manufacturer in long term, responsible of hw evolution of devices

- responsible for documentation (hw) for customers & internal users

- For our partners or customers willing to develop their own products using IoT connectivity services he will be responsible to support them for the realization of their own devices: advices, support to integrate RF chipset or modules. 1st contact will be Pre-sales engineer.

- Is in charge of 3rd party device certification before accepting on IoT network, for hw aspects

- Continuous market/technology study to identify new opportunities for devices, new types of design or optimizations. In particular follow new devices / IoT applications introduced by solution providers in the global (international) alliance developping the radio technology .

- interface with design offices/CDM, industrial designer, manufacturers, team embedded sw and sw BA, component vendors, pre sales, customers and partners

Skills and experience

- highly experienced in M2M/IoT device design encompassing all aspects from shape, materials, electronics, wireless performance, battery, manufacturing

- the candidate is used to work with design offices for device design. He has run consultations, RFPs, defined optimum device design and manufacture process and successfully brought concepts to the shipping phase. He has working experience with various ecosystem players involved in implementing IoT / M2M applications

- The candidate is an expert at optimizing individual components of connected devices for a specific IoT application. He has demonstrated knowledge of state of the art best technologies for the following.

- low power microcontrollers

- wireless connectivity technologies and architecture for devices

- antenna design and integration in small form factors

- battery choice

- power circuitry

- electrical and structural drawings

- manufacturing processes & constraints

- manufacturing norms & certifications in India for conform, safe, reliable design

- disposal processes

- knowledge of the tools and methologies required to evaluate prototypes/commercial samples delivered by CDM/EMS

- Knowledge of India IoT value chain players is a plus. SIs, ISVs, service providers, MNOs, IoT alliances members, resellers, distributors..

- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related engineering or technical field (sensors and devices, radar, antennas, wireless communications, power electronics, electrical hardware design..)

- 8+ years of experience incuding developing end-to-end commercial internet of things solutions
