Position: CAD Engineer
Location: Chennai
Experience: Minimum 3 Years (with VI experience)
Job Summary
We are looking for a CAD Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Vehicle Integration (VI) and automotive design. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience working in CAD modeling, vehicle packaging, integration of components, and supporting engineering teams in design and validation.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and modify 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for automotive components and assemblies.
- Work on Vehicle Integration (VI) tasks such as packaging, fitment checks, component layout, clearance analysis, and GD&T.
- Support design teams in integration of powertrain, chassis, electrical systems, and interior/exterior parts.
- Ensure CAD models meet design standards, automotive requirements, and manufacturability guidelines.
- Work with cross-functional teams (Electrical, Mechanical, Body, Chassis, etc.) for design improvements.
- Perform tolerance stack-up, clash detection, and feasibility studies.
- Maintain updated engineering documents, BOMs, and revision control.
- Support prototype builds and engineering change requests (ECR/ECN).
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in any major CAD tools:
- CATIA V5 / CATIA V6
- Experience in VI - Vehicle Integration / Vehicle Packaging.
- Knowledge of assembly design, GD&T, sheet metal, plastics, or mechanical components.
- Understanding of automotive domain and component integration.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and standards.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
