Job Description - Position Title : EHS Officer

Function : Supply chain - EHS

Key Stakeholders :

- Internal: Unit head, Factory manager, Production Manager, Maintenance manager, Human resource manager, Quality manager & Project manager

- External: Statutory authorities, Contractors, Visitors and guests

- Educational Qualification : Diploma or Graduation with additional qualification in Industrial safety

- Experience : At least 3-4 years in the field of EHS from a manufacturing sector

Desired Competencies :

- Better understanding on EHS management system

- Good understanding on legal requirements

- Good communication & influencing skills

Key Responsibilities :

- Establish and Maintain EHS management system

- To establish, maintain, monitor and improve Environment, Safety & Health systems at Britannia.

- To develop EHS network for all the entities of Britannia and to coordinate.

- To communicate the EHS policy and implement

- To conduct the Hazard Identification and Risk Analysis related to EHS at Britannia and assist all depts. in identifying the Risks.

- To develop and implement various Operational Control procedures for mitigating the Significant EHS risks.

- To develop various training modules on EHS and coordinate training programmes

- To identify the legal requirements related to EHS and to ensure legal compliance. To regularly evaluate the legal compliance

- To design, implement, monitor and continually improve EHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001 at all the levels

- To create a culture which facilitate the Best practices in EHS

- To coordinate for implementation of Emergency response plan

- Generate a Environment, Safety & Health Culture

- Communicate on Environment, Safety & Health issues to the employees regularly and methodically

- Generate Awareness through various means - like communications, Posters, campaigns, health check-up camps, quizzes, shows, safety/health/security tips and stories,

- Regular trainings for the selected set of people all over site

- Mock-drills organization on a periodic set frequency

- Distinguished speakers may be used or Videos made and shown for enhancing EHS in the company

- Regular audits by self and external parties & involving volunteer employees for EHS enhancements

- Use the EHS network for best practice sharing for culture, awareness, etc.

- Liasioning with Govt. bodies for EHS like Hospitals, Police, Safety consultants, EHS consultants/experts. Fire tenders, Ambulance,

- To monitor, report and analyze incidents

- To establish a mechanism for reporting all the EHS incidents including near misses

- To report all the incidents including near misses, analyze the same and identify the corrective actions based on that and support the concerned in implementing the same

- Continual improvement of the EHS system

- To liaise with external agencies (3rd party certification body or statutory bodies)

- Provide all the reporting related to EHS

- To regularly conduct the internal audits for verification of the compliance to EHS systems.

- To ensure that EHS related objectives are identified and monitored at the relevant levels

- To ensure that all the employees are involved in EHS related activities through developing poster/ communications/ competitions etc
