Job Description

Buyer - Denim Wear

Job Purpose :

To coordinate all buying & promotional activities across the category in line with strategy and to achieve financial key performance measures, maximizing product opportunities that exceed customer expectations

Key Activities :

Communication :

- Liase with Designers, merchandising, Visual merchandising, sourcing and Supply Chain to develop plans for maximizing product opportunities.

- Participate in communication platforms with store operations team to get their buy in and create feedback opportunities using conference meeting and workshops

- Coordinate activities for new store launches and refurbishments with the merchandising team and supply chain team

- Participate in weekly team meetings to review product and store performance agree upon team priorities, resulting actions and provide updates on corporate activities

- Assist Category In-store layouts in conjunction with VM team

- Assist Category in coordinating with VM team to implement promotional activities

Creativity :

- Generate Idea and solutions that result in a commercial gain

- Find New business opportunities as a result of external networking

- Invite imaginative solutions to stubborm problems

- Foster innovation

- Take risk on new and unusual ideas

- Develop creative improvements to product and services

Source & Develop Product :

- Work with Head of department to implement Category strategy to maximize performance of Category in line with company key performance measures.

- Understand and implement buying brief and sourcing policy as instructed by Head of department

- Work with Head of department to decide process required to support in - house design and development of Private Label products, including development of coordinated brand packaging ensuring that integrity of the own brands is preserved

- Work closely with QA Team and key vendors to ensure right product to agreed parameters

- Map competition product offering - making sure we have right product at right price

- Participate in category initiatives such as product trailing and evaluation, product launches and promotional events,

Plan Merchandise:

- Assist in development of Category Merchandise and range plans and ensure appropriate width, depth, balance and mix of the product offer

- Maximise Sale and Profit

- Participate in implementation of major category initiatives to enhances category performance, including the relevant people from across the business and take action to ensure financial measures are met

- Manage development of product by adhering to the set Critical Path & monitoring the progress up to deliveries to meet critical deadline

- Review category performance by analyzing weekly best sellers and slow movers and make regular store visits and agree action to be taken to maximize in season performance

- Attend monthly GP review with Business Head OB, category merchandisers, re-forecasting BTA, OTB, mark-downs, commitments, stock levels and margins

- Work with the Category manager to ensure achievement of financial & Supply Chain key performance measures, including Open to buy, Mark-down, commitment, margin, gross profit & stock levels

Teamwork :

- Participate with the team, ensuring clear objective are met

-Help build an effective and motivated team environment

Any Other Duties :

- Participate in any other or carry out any other duties that may be outside the general remit that will benefit the individual, department or company as a whole

Skills and Experience Required : Minimum of 6-7 years spent as a Buyer or equivalent

Commercial eye :

- Good understanding of market and competition

- Aware of trend and knows how to interpret them for their customer

- Team player

- Strong negotiating skills

- Relationship building skills ( merchandising, design, sourcing, vendors)

Analytical :

- Understands and knows how to develop a handwriting for the brand

- Training/coaching skills
