Chief Metallurgist (15-20 yrs)
The Chief Metallurgist will be responsible for leading all metallurgical functions within the steel foundry, including melting, heat treatment, alloy development, laboratory operations, and metallurgical quality assurance. The ideal candidate must possess deep technical expertise in steel metallurgy, with strong hands-on experience in operating and optimizing foundry processes such as melting, solidification, heat treatment cycles, and metallurgical testing.
- The role requires managing the Environment Laboratory to ensure strict compliance with GPCB and other government environmental regulations. The Chief Metallurgist will also be responsible for developing new steel chemistries, designing heat-treatment cycles, and validating material properties to meet diverse customer mechanical and metallurgical requirements.
- A key part of the role is implementing world-class melting, handling, and heat-treating practices to improve yield, reduce defects, and enhance metallurgical consistency.
- The candidate must be able to analyze failures, conduct root cause studies, and recommend corrective actions using advanced metallurgical tools. Close coordination with production, quality, design, and customer teams will be essential to support new product development, resolve technical issues, and achieve superior metallurgical performance.
- The position requires strong leadership abilities to guide metallurgical teams, ensure process discipline, strengthen laboratory capability, and drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
