Deep Hole Drilling Operator (5-15 yrs)
The Deep Hole Drilling Operator will be responsible for independently operating deep hole drilling machines, loading and aligning jobs, creating or modifying CNC programs, and ensuring precision hole accuracy throughout the machining process. The operator must have strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience in deep hole drilling operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Load, align, and secure workpieces on deep hole drilling machines.
2. Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using specialized software.
3. Select appropriate cutting tools and set tool offsets based on job specifications.
4. Monitor drilling operations to maintain dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and tolerance requirements.
5. Ensure hole accuracy through continuous monitoring and real-time parameter adjustments.
6. Conduct pre- and post-process inspections to verify dimensions and quality.
7. Maintain adherence to safety procedures and standard operating practices.
8. Identify and resolve operational issues such as tool wear, part defects, chip accumulation, hole deviation, and machine malfunctions.
9. Coordinate with maintenance teams for machine upkeep and preventive maintenance.
Skills & Competencies
1. Strong knowledge of deep hole drilling processes (BTA, gundrilling, etc.).
2. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining parameters.
3. Hands-on experience with CNC controls and programming software.
4. Familiarity with cutting tools, coolant systems, and chip management.
5. Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
6. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
