Delhivery - Project Engineer/Senior Project Engineer - Product Development (1-4 yrs)

Gurgaon/Gurugram Job Code: 43931

Delhivery is one of India's largest and fastest-growing integrated logistics and supply chain service providers. Founded in 2011, the company has transformed from a local food delivery startup into a nationwide logistics powerhouse. As a publicly traded company on the NSE and BSE, Delhivery is a dominant player in the logistics sector, competing with both traditional players and newer tech-enabled logistics firms. It remains a critical partner for major e-commerce platforms and enterprises across India.

The company offers a comprehensive suite of logistics services, categorized into several key areas:

- Express Parcel: High-speed delivery services primarily for e-commerce companies and individual consumers.

- Partial Truckload (PTL) & Full Truckload (FTL) Freight: B2B transportation solutions for moving heavy goods across the country.

- Supply Chain Services: Integrated warehousing and inventory management solutions tailored for various industries.

- Cross-Border Logistics: International shipping and clearance services connecting India with global markets.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Automation & Mechatronics Engineer to lead the end-to-end development, assembly, and commissioning of static DWS (Dimensioning, Weighing, and Scanning) machines. You will be responsible for building these systems from the ground up, integrating hardware (HMIs, dimensioning cameras, weighing scales, and fixed scanners) and programming the underlying logic to ensure seamless operation. The ideal candidate is a multidisciplinary problem-solver with deep expertise in electrical wiring, mechanical assembly, PLC programming, and industrial vision systems.

Key Responsibilities :

System Architecture & Logic (PLC & HMI) :

- Design and program the core control logic using PLCs to ensure seamless communication between all peripherals.

- Develop the trigger architecture: Ensure that scanning a barcode instantly and reliably triggers the camera (for dimensioning/imaging) and the weighing scale.

- Design and program intuitive HMI (Human-Machine Interface) screens for operators to interact with the machine, view real-time data, and troubleshoot errors.

- Establish data communication protocols (TCP/IP, Modbus, PROFINET, etc.) to transmit captured weight, dimensions, images, and barcode data to the central warehouse management system (WMS) or database.

Vision Systems & Scanning :

- Install, configure, and calibrate industrial 3D/dimensioning cameras to accurately capture the real volume, dimensions, and high-quality images of shipments.

- Integrate and tune fixed barcode scanners for rapid, first-pass read rates.

- Troubleshoot lighting, field-of-view, and optical distortions to ensure consistent camera performance across various package types and sizes.

Electrical Integration :

- Design and execute the complete electrical setup of the DWS machine, including creating wiring diagrams and schematics.

- Wire and integrate power supplies, PLCs, sensors, safety relays, HMIs, and communication cables, ensuring safe and optimal cable routing.

- Ensure the machine complies with relevant electrical safety and industrial standards.

Mechanical Assembly & Setup

- Oversee and execute the mechanical construction of the DWS frame and workstation.

- Securely mount and align all sensitive hardware (cameras, scanners, HMI displays) at optimal ergonomic and operational angles.

- Install, calibrate, and level industrial weighing scales to ensure strict accuracy.

Required Qualifications & Skills :

Education : Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Domain Experience : Proven hands-on experience building, integrating, or maintaining DWS systems, automated sortation systems, or similar material handling equipment.

PLC Programming : Strong proficiency in programming PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, or Omron) from scratch.

Vision/Camera Systems : Hands-on experience with industrial dimensioning cameras and vision systems (e.g., SICK, Cognex, Keyence, Intel RealSense, or Basler).

Electrical/Mechanical : Strong ability to read and create electrical schematics, wire industrial control panels, and perform precision mechanical assembly.

Protocols : Deep understanding of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, RS-232/485, etc.) used to integrate scales, scanners, and cameras.
