Purpose :

- Drive procurement of the organization in line with best in class industry practice.

- Ensure availability of material within the parameters of cost, quality and time.

- Manage raw materials & packaging materials (amounting to a purchase bill of about Rs 400 Crores of which packaging materials may amount to Rs 50 Crores)

Strategic Roles :

- Analyze demand of different departments & forecast material requirement.

- Identify and develop potential Vendors / Suppliers to achieve cost effective purchase of raw materials.

- Make sound & effective spot-buying decisions while entering into contracts, esp. in volatile commodity markets.

Operational Roles :

Sourcing / Procurement :

- Centralize Strategic Sourcing / Procurement of all packing materials, general purchases, project / capital good purchase, Chemicals & work contract for all manufacturing units.

- Implement strategies for sourcing of items by analyzing the manufacturing process, in consideration with the requirements.

- Ensure the optimum utilization of available material, maximize the cost saving & meet the business needs

Vendor Development :

- Assess performance of the Vendors based on various criterion's such as manufacturing process, standards & quality, timely delivery, credit terms, etc.

- Prepare comparison charts & Negotiate with suppliers / vendors for cost effective purchase.

- New vendor and product development.

Material Management :

- Manage the inventory control to distribute the goods within specified parameters.

- Analyze the demand of different departments & forecast the material requirement.

CapEx :

- Lead functioning of the Capex Committee

- Work closely with the senior management to determine viability of procurement.

Logistics :

- Map new product businesses, Evaluate products, train the business partners and sales team on new products and Map potential suppliers.

- Liaise with supply agents, transport departments, warehouse agents to ensure smooth logistics and distribution of commodities

Import :

- Liaise with clearing agents, Ministry of Excise to ensure timely clearing of Commodities at the border during imports

- Ensure proper coordination with Finance Department for imports - FOREX cover, insurance, overseas payments, etc.

New Business development :

- Review existing policies and effect corrections as needed; fine-tune such that objectives of policies are achieved

Tactical Roles :

- To develop effective procurement strategies and policies to achieve optimum cost of goods & streamline the overall procurement functions within the required time, budget & quality standards

Brief Candidate Profile :

- 35-to-40 years of age :

- Commercial acumen, negotiation, cost savings orientation, (he could be a bit low on technical knowledge)

- Strong on building relationships

- Preferably knowledgeable of suppliers in India and China

- Solution-oriented rather than one who escalates problems
