Design Application Engineer (2-5 yrs)
Position Overview:
The Design Application Engineer - Pre-Sales will serve as a critical bridge between the sales and technical teams. This role focuses on enabling the sales team with in-depth product knowledge, providing training, and conducting tailored demonstrations of SOLIDWORKS solutions to prospective clients. The ideal candidate is a technically sound professional with excellent communication and presentation skills and must have hands-on experience working with SOLIDWORKS in a design or engineering capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Sales Support :
- Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs and translate them into technical solutions using SOLIDWORKS.
- Prepare and deliver high-impact product demonstrations, presentations, and Proof of Concepts (PoC) for clients.
- Actively participate in client meetings to support sales efforts and answer technical queries.
- Identify customer pain points and map them to SOLIDWORKS features and modules.
Sales Team Enablement :
- Conduct internal training sessions for the sales team on new SOLIDWORKS features, product enhancements, and use-cases.
- Create technical documentation, comparison charts, and demo scripts to assist in sales pitches.
- Assist in preparing technical content for proposals and RFP responses.
Software Expertise & Updates :
- Stay up to date with the latest releases and enhancements of the SOLIDWORKS suite.
- Share relevant updates, features, and implementation strategies with the sales and post-sales teams.
- Evaluate beta versions or early releases to assess features and business use cases.
Technical Marketing :
- Contribute to webinars, seminars, exhibitions, and technical events as a SOLIDWORKS expert.
- Assist in developing technical content for marketing collateral and client communications.
Customer Engagement (Selective)
- Engage directly with high-value or technically complex clients during pre-sales phases.
- Provide guidance on solution architecture and workflow optimization using SOLIDWORKS tools.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with SOLIDWORKS in a design, engineering, or technical support role.
- Strong command over SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD, including part modeling, assemblies, and drawings.
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
- Good understanding of design workflows and engineering processes.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with other SOLIDWORKS products such as Visualize, Composer, PDM, or Simulation (an advantage).
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Excel, and documentation tools.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.
- Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate (CSWA) or Professional (CSWP) certification required.
