Design Engineer - Automotive Latches (20-30 yrs)

- Design and development of Hood and Tailgate latch

- Concept generation and study 3D package.

- Kinematic study

- Calculations - springs, abuse loads, strength and optics

- Co-ordinate with CAE engineer for simulations

- Understand CAE report and do necessary changes in the design

- Design of Hood latches with and without pedestrian protection and slam blocker

- Design of Tailgate and Trunklid latches

- Design of sheet metal/ Plastic and Rubber parts

- Drafting using GD&T as per ASME Y 14.5

- Regulations study

- Coordinate with customer engineering department and internal CFT team for successful execution of a project

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE :

- CATIA - solid and surface modeling, drafting, kinematics and assembly

- Experience in product development following APQP, PPAP & DFMEA, DVP

- Knowledge of plastic, alloy steels and die casting materials

- Prior experience in manufacturing and automotive industry (Tier I or II or III)

- Email - Outlook or Gmail

- Knowledge of dynamics simulation using multi body dynamics software

- Hands on experience in hand calculations - forces, efforts, stresses, fatigue stress

- Hands on experience in GD&T as per ASME or ISO standards

- Hands on experience in tolerance stackup using 2D, RMS and statistical methods

- Knowledge and experience in understanding regulations and homologations

- MS Office - Excel, Word and Power Point

Qualifications:

- BE or B. Tech Mech or Automotive engineering - minimum 70% average

- Diploma with 3 years of additional experience - minimum 75% average

Experience:

- 5-7 years in Automotive industry

- Experience in working on tailgate latches, trunklid latches, side door latches - minimum of 3 years

- CATIA V5 - 3 years minimum
