Director - Engineering & Projects (18-24 yrs)

- The Position is responsible for the execution of all major capital projects safely, on time and to approved capital, whilst also leading engineering improvements and innovations using Global Best Practices and learnings.

- Lead the engineering function in the region;

- Act as Executive Project Manager for all capital projects in the region;

- Lead regional-wide, multi-national engineering teams during the building and execution of capital projects in the region;

- Lead a team of regional engineers, ensuring the team are effectively managed and developed to be a high performing team focused on providing support to the region in line with business needs;

- Oversee and approve the capital investment and budgets for equipment requirements in the region ensuring that capital approval matches the organization targets of ROIC and payback;

- Lead engineering improvement requirements on existing facilities in the region to optimize safety, revenue and profitability;

- Deliver engineering support for bids and operational improvements with commercial and operational leaders leading to improvements in returns and profitability ;

- Liaise with global engineering colleagues to ensure that content of design, costing and best practice globally is included in the commercial bid process;

- Drive close cooperation and support with business development teams;

- Participate in technical discussions with customers on solutions to their resource recovery needs;

- Act as direct main contact with customers- project engineers and managers ensuring project battery limits are agreed and supplied on time;

- Provide hands on leadership on major projects at sites where necessary to deliver on time and on budget project;

- Identify areas for improvement in processes, regionally and globally;

- Provide feedback to the central engineering team;

- Act as a key member of the regional leadership team;

- Ensure knowledge and awareness of new or emerging technology internally and externally.

- Experience:

- A minimum of 18-20 years of experience working in Engineering in a global organization;

- Experience of project management gained through working in engineering or process based roles;

- Proven track record of executing projects to time and cost requirements.

- Skills and Abilities:

- Strong technical and commercial management skills;

- Self-motivated and results driven;

- Ability to successfully lead others, direct and non direct reports;

- Strong communicator and relationship builder, with high level of influential and interpersonal skills;

- Rational, logical thinker with the ability to analyze and make fact based decisions;

- Imaginative and innovative in formulating projects, conceiving and exploiting new products/processes/services and resolving problems;

- Ability to solve problems through root cause analysis;

- Willing to be hands on and work in the field

- Willing to travel extensively, often for lengthy periods.
