Job Title : Drives & Automation Engineer HSM

Position Title : Engineer

Department & Section : Heavy Section Mill

Direct Manager : Head of Maintenance E & A

Working Relationships (internal):

- Head of E&A-HSM (Reports all maintenance matters related to the section and obtains policy guidelines and instructions).

- Other E&A members in HSM (Ongoing contact with other E&A section heads in Rolling Mills to ensure a coordinated engineering service provision).

- Level 2 Engineer (Jobs related to integration with Level 2 systems)

Working Relationships (external)

- Mill Builder (Danieli)

- Various E&A Systems suppliers (Siemens, ABB,Danieli)

General Summary

Responsible for maintaining and modifying, as per process requirement, HSM drives and Automation system including the hardware and software and to ensure the smooth functionality of system in accordance with HSM process requirement to the correct standard safely and in a timely manner so that plant utilization is maximized.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities) :

- System availability: Ensure system availability by maintaining Drives and Automation hardware and software (LV and MV Drives, PLCs, HMIs, CNC machines etc.).

- Software back-up & Historical data : Maintain the latest software back up for level 1 automation systems. Ensure historical data backup and security. Database regular back-up.

- Level 2 integration : Adapt Level 1 software interface to match with Level 2 requirements. Create &maintain new database to match Level 2 requirements.

Development: Require to constantly focus on development and improvement of the system.

Work Planning : Review daily electrical and production reports, analyze problem areas and prioritizes them in order of importance so as to prepare daily plans and ensure that plant utilization is maximized.

Analysis and Reporting : Prepare daily management reports based upon analysis of previous days activities so that action plans can be developed to address line stoppage and fault analysis issues and

hence improve maintenance service to internal customers.

Spare parts management : Ensure proper spare parts management. Conduct periodical spare parts audits and update availability in line with budgetary guidelines.

Production Liaison : Meet with production personnel on a daily basis to discuss and finalize machine shut down schedules and obtain feedback on historical standards of service provision.

Problem Solving : Personally provide technical input and hands-on skills to the resolution of major maintenance problems so that line down time is minimized and direct reports advance their technical understanding.

Performance Review : Review outstanding jobs and trend analyses on a weekly basis to address underlying reasons for service non-compliance and put in place appropriate action plans to effect correction.

Budgeting: Prepare data and reports to input into the annual budgeting process so that the company isaware of its likely costs in the Level 1 automation activities.

National Development Program: Assist in developing U.A.E. national trainees / employees to prepare them ready for acquiring targeted positions in line with IDP developed as per company policies.

Health, Safety & Environment : Directs, maintain and follow ESI Integrated Management System procedures and guide lines.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities :

- Plant cleanliness: Implements programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.

- Plant expansions: Assists with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.

Others: Drive start up effort at the facility; therefore, participate in staffing effort, lead spare part procurement effort, lead maintenance training effort, identify/secure critical supply and service agreements, lead the maintenance group during checkout and commissioning of the facility, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities (attributes) required :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

Fully conversant with HSM process.

- In-depth knowledge of Level 1 Automation systems (LV and MV Drives, Motors, PLCs, CNC machines etc) related to HSM process.

- Fair knowledge of electrical and Instrumentation systems of HSM process.

- Fully conversant with tuning, parameterization and maintenance of Siemens / ABB LV and MV drives.

- Fully conversant with Siemens S7 programming and debugging.

- Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email, and spreadsheets.

- Ability to work effectively with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), preferably SAP, and instruct others on its operation.

Minimum Education Qualifications (Must Haves)

- Bachelors Degree/Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering.

Any preferred professional training (Nice to have)

- Trained on Drives and PLC systems related to HSM process.

- Trained on Siemens S7 software programming and debugging.

Professional Experience (Must haves)

- In excess of 8 years Electrical automation experience in HSM for Degree engineers and in excess of 15 years of Electrical & Automation experience for Diploma including 3 years as Level 1 Automation engineer in a Rolling Mill mainly focused on Drives and PLCs.

- Previous Experience/exposure Recommendations (Nice to have)

- Working experience in any of the Middle-east countries (familiar with rules and regulations, climatic conditions)

- Meet production targets for the Company

- (Availability of Drives and Automation system for HSM, Availability of latest revision of software back up and Historical data )

- Ensure All the Drives and Automation functions and modules working effectively and efficiently as per end user requirement.

- Ensure efficient interface of HSM Drives and Automation system with Level 2 and Successful implementation of developments.

- Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

- Maintain excellent HSE records.

- Establish and maintain development programs for the UAE national trainees/employees as per company policies.

- Conduct Audit to ensure adherence to plans, policies & procedures.
