E2E Designer - Environment Safety (1-8 yrs)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title - Designer

Location - Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane

1. JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for ensuring all E2E designs are in accordance with the NBN Co technical specifications and regulatory requirements. Monitors and assists the external design functions by ensuring the principles of this position description, which may be adjusted as the role evolves, are adhered to.

3. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Reports to the Team Leader and provides the overall progress and any issues.

- Coordinate with the Regional Deployment Team to ensure Designsare prepared on schedule and with the required quality.

- Ensure all Designs comply with NBN Technical Specifications and any regulatory requirements.

- Coordinate and manage the data integrity associated with the information developed by and received from external design resources.

- Provide specialist technical support to the respective Project and Design Teams.

- Provide a point of coordination between NBN Co and external designers in relation to the delivery of designs in a timely manner.

- Monitor and report on contractor design progress and ensure delivery of the program.

4. HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT

Ensuring injury risks and environmental impacts are effectively identified and managed by applying the NBN Co HSE management system by ensuring:

Risks introduced as a result of the design process are appropriately identified, assessed and managed. This includes :

- Ensuring HSE specifications and requirements are met by:

- Referencing relevant legislation, standards (internal and external) and codes

- Consulting relevant stakeholders such as employees, suppliers, architects and other subject matter experts

- Verifying any proposed designs meet defined HSE specifications and requirements by completing a risk assessment in design.

- Compliance with NBN Co policy, procedures and work instructions as detailed within the company's Safety and Environmental Management Systems

- Hazards and incidents are reported in accordance with the NBN Co HSE management system

- Work is carried out safely in accordance with safe working procedures, SWMSs, work instructions and training

- You act to stop any unsafe work

- You actively participate in any return to work program agreed to with the company

5. CONTRIBUTION MEASURES (Key Performance Indicators for the job e.g. budget, revenue, staff managed)

- Build and maintain relationships with relevant nbn and external partners

- Ensure design rules are maintained throughout the design process

- Ensure information supplied in designs meet our obligations to build partners

- Ensure design delivery timeframes are met

- Review designs to ensure most efficient optimised design is delivered

- Complete reporting on design progress as required

- Other areas as agreed with manager from time to time

- Specific and measurable KPI's will be established and agreed in accordance with nbn's corporate requirement, including an Individual Performance Objective target and Personal Development Plan.

6. PERSON SPECIFICATION

- Minimum 5years of experience in the design and delivery of fixed telecommunication access networks, with a thorough understanding of copper, fibre, aerial, underground and intra-building solutions.

- Thorough understanding of access network design principles, industry standards and installation practices.

- Strong knowledge of copper cross connect, splicing, termination and testing methodology.

- Practical construction experience of active or passive networks.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- High level of organisational, prioritising and problem solving skills.

- Commitment to safety, quality and time management.

- Knowledge of geographic information systems and network inventory databases as they apply to telecommunications network.

7. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
