Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer (8-14 yrs)
Role Summary :
The Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for supporting basic and detailed engineering, E&I design review, and execution support for the establishment of a food ingredients production plant.
The role involves close coordination with external engineering contractors / EPC consultants, internal process, mechanical, and project teams, and equipment vendors to ensure that electrical power systems, instrumentation, automation, and safety systems are designed, implemented, and commissioned in line with process requirements, statutory codes, and project timelines.
- This position is critical in translating process intent into reliable, safe, and operable E&I systems for pilot and commercial-scale facilities.
Role and Responsibilities :
1. Act as the owner's E&I representative for coordination with external engineering contractors during basic and detailed engineering phases.
2. Review and provide inputs on Electrical Load Lists, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Earthing & Lightning Protection layouts, Cable Schedules, and Power Distribution Philosophy.
3. Review and validate instrumentation specifications, instrument index, IO lists, hook-up drawings, and control system architecture (PLC / SCADA / DCS).
4. Ensure proper selection and sizing of field instruments including flow, pressure, level, temperature, conductivity, pH, and analytical instruments suitable for food and chemical processes.
5. Support development and review of Control Philosophy, Cause & Effect diagrams, interlocks, alarms, and shutdown logic.
6. Coordinate with process and mechanical teams to ensure correct instrument tapping points, control valve sizing, analyzer locations, and safety interlocks.
7. Review specifications for MCCs, VFDs, panels, UPS systems, transformers, and plant power distribution systems.
8. Support HAZID / HAZOP / SIL studies from an E&I perspective and ensure closure of action items in design.
9. Evaluate vendor offers for instruments, panels, PLCs, analyzers, VFDs, and electrical equipment; participate in technical bid evaluations.
10. Interface with vendors and EPC contractors to resolve engineering queries, deviations, and design clarifications.
11. Support installation, loop checking, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities at site.
12. Assist in preparation of SOPs, alarm response procedures, and maintenance documentation.
13. Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements (CEA, PESO, IS/IEC standards, food safety considerations).
