A leading IT company based in Pune is looking - Engineer / Lead Engineer - R&D- who will be working on electric machine design and will be part of a - technology excellence- team, responsible for providing end-to-end electric machine design solutions - involving specification gathering, FEA simulations, material & geometry design, cost optimisation and machine fabrication.

Job Description :

- The candidate will work primarily on designing new electric machines, typically used in ISG (integrated starter generator) applications, hybrid vehicles, and full electric vehicles. 

- The candidate will be responsible for providing - electric machines as a service- to internal teams within SEDEMAC and occasionally to SEDEMAC's external customers. 

- The nature of work will involve a design + fabrication cycle, involving conducting simulations, fabricating machines, and validating performance of machines through experimentations. 

The candidate will be required to :

- Gather requirement about machine performance from internal/external customers, and to convert the understanding into a formal specification to be executed.

- Manage the machine prototype preparation exercise as a - project- and break down the project into tasks which can be executed & tracked as units.

- Iterate over design geometry & material choices while simultaneously performing machine design simulations in FEA software (electromagnetic and thermal simulations) to conclude on a design to be taken up for proto-level fabrication.

- Coordinate with internal/external vendors to have prototype stators, rotors, magnets (etc.) fabricated and to assemble the machine as a whole. In the process, the candidate may also be required to build a supply chain of vendors.

- Perform experiments on the fabricated machine to validate desired performance.

- Mitigate all risks involved in the machine prototype preparation project and manage

development through all design stages till hand-over to the internal /external customer.

- Improve know-how within SEDEMAC about limits of performance of electric machines, perform cost analysis for prototype machines & mass-manufactured machines, and build rules of thumbs for designing/analysing electric machines for different applications.

- Act as a single point for internal customers for all technical matters related to the prototype preparation exercise.

Desired technical skills

- Familiarity with electromagnetic FEA tools (such as Ansys Maxwell)

- Familiarity with thermal FEA / CFD tools (such as Ansys Fluent)

- Familiarity with 3D CAD tools such as Autodesk Fusion 360, PTC Creo etc.

- Familiarity with MATLAB

- Experience with new product development.
