Executive - Purchase (3-5 yrs)
Job Title - Executive - Purchase
Location: Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra
Employment Type: Full-Time
Timing: 9:30am to 6:00pm
Work Environment: Primarily office-based with occasional on-site execution
Industry: Electrical Panel Manufacturing, Process & Metering Skids, Industrial Automation
Position Summary
The Purchase Executive will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, components, and services required for manufacturing industrial automation panels and executing turnkey projects in Oil & Gas and Data Centre sectors. The role requires strong vendor management skills, technical understanding of electrical components, and the ability to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement aligned with project schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement & Sourcing
- Identify and develop reliable vendors for electrical, instrumentation, and automation components.
Procure materials such as:
- PLC, SCADA, DCS components
- Switchgear (ACB, MCCB, MCB)
- Control panels, enclosures
- VFDs, Soft Starters
- Cables, Cable trays
- Field instruments and accessories
- Obtain quotations, prepare comparative statements, and recommend suppliers.
2. Vendor Management
- Evaluate vendor performance in terms of quality, price, and delivery.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Develop alternate sources to reduce dependency risks.
3. Cost Control & Budgeting
- Ensure procurement within project budgets.
- Analyze market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Support value engineering initiatives.
4. Coordination
Coordinate with:
- Engineering team for technical specifications
- Projects team for delivery timelines
- Stores for inventory status
- Accounts for payment processing
- Ensure materials are delivered as per project schedules.
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Issue Purchase Orders (POs) in ERP system.
- Maintain procurement records and vendor documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards (Oil & Gas / Data Centre requirements).
6. Logistics & Follow-up
- Track material dispatch and ensure timely delivery.
- Resolve supply delays or discrepancies.
- Coordinate with logistics and transport agencies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
- Additional certification in Supply Chain / Materials Management preferred.
Experience:
3- 5 years of experience in procurement for:
- Industrial Automation Panels
- Electrical Panel Manufacturing
- Oil & Gas Projects
- Data Centre Projects
Experience dealing with reputed OEMs such as:
- Siemens
- Schneider Electric
- ABB
- Rockwell Automation
- L&T Electrical & Automation
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of electrical and automation components.
- Ability to read technical specifications and BOQs.
- ERP system knowledge (SAP / Tally / Oracle / etc.).
- MS Excel proficiency (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, cost analysis).
