A leading Edible Oil brand from Tamil Nadu is in the lookout for :

General Manager - Research & Development

Experience Required - 15 to 20 Years in (Edible Oils/Foods)

Qualification - PhD or Master's degree in food science.

Job Location - Chennai

- Language - Knowledge in Tamil will be an added advantage.

- As the R&D Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the research and development activities of the company. Your primary objective will be to drive innovation, develop new products, improve existing formulations, and ensure regulatory compliance. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to achieve strategic business goals and enhance our competitive position in the market.

Qualifications and Requirements:

- PhD or Master's degree in food science

- Proven experience in R&D within the food industry, preferably in edible oil or related sectors.

- Strong knowledge of product development processes, formulation, and food regulations.

- Proficiency in conducting sensory evaluations and applying statistical analysis.

- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with effective communication and interpersonal skills.

- Detail-oriented, with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.

- Familiarity with consumer trends and market dynamics in the food industry.

Key Responsibilities:

1. New Product Development :

- Lead the ideation, conceptualization, and development of new edible oil products, considering market trends, consumer preferences, and nutritional requirements.

- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify product gaps and opportunities.

- Collaborate with the marketing team to define product positioning, target markets, and marketing strategies.

2. Formulation and Testing :

- Develop and optimize product formulations, considering factors such as taste, texture, stability, shelf life, and cost-effectiveness.

- Conduct laboratory experiments and pilot-scale trials to evaluate product performance, ensuring adherence to quality standards.

- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and research institutions, to leverage their expertise and resources.

3. Regulatory Compliance :

- Stay updated with relevant food regulations, safety standards, and labeling requirements.

- Ensure all product development activities comply with regulatory guidelines and maintain necessary documentation.

- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to address any quality or compliance issues and implement corrective actions.

4. Team Leadership and Project Management :

- Manage a team of R&D professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities.

- Set project goals, allocate resources, and establish timelines to ensure timely and successful product launches.

- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and cross-functional collaboration.

5. Collaboration and Stakeholder Management :

- Collaborate with internal teams, including Marketing, Operations, and Quality Assurance, to align R&D efforts with business objectives.

- Build and maintain relationships with external partners, such as suppliers, research institutions, and industry experts.

- Participate in industry conferences, seminars, and forums to stay abreast of industry trends and advancements.
