Geophysicist (2-16 yrs)
Position : Senior/Junior Geophysicist
Location : Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC - Africa)
Experience : Minimum 2- 15 years in Geophysics / Mineral Exploration
Qualification : M.Sc. / M.Tech. in Geophysics / Applied Geolophysics / Earth Sciences
Industry : Mining & Mineral Exploration (Copper / Cobalt / Gold / Manganese)
Employment Type : Full-time (on-site / expatriate)
Key Responsibilities :
Lead Geophysical Survey Operations including:
- Induced Polarization (IP) and Resistivity Surveys (Pole-Dipole, Dipole-Dipole, Gradient Array)
- Magnetic, Gravity, and Ground Electromagnetic surveys
- Supervise data acquisition, processing, modeling, and interpretation using industry-standard software.
- Plan, execute, and monitor field activities - including survey layout, data quality assurance, and HSE compliance.
- Integrate geophysical, geological, and geochemical data for target generation and drill program design.
- Prepare and validate 2D/3D subsurface models, anomaly maps, and detailed exploration reports.
- Manage and maintain geophysical instruments and laboratory equipment including:
IRIS and AGI IP/Resistivity systems
- Gravimeter (CG-5/6), Magnetometer (Geometrics, GEM Systems)
- Spectrometer, Logging systems, and related calibration setups
- Provide technical mentoring and on-field guidance to junior geophysicists and field technicians.
- Coordinate with geology and drilling teams for borehole correlation and resource delineation.
- Participate in management reviews, presenting interpreted data and exploration outcomes.
Technical Skill Requirements
- Strong command over IP & Resistivity methods (IRIS, AGI systems).
- Proficiency in Geosoft Oasis Montaj, Res2DINV, Prosys-II, ArcGIS, WellCAD, and EarthImager 2D/3D.
- Sound understanding of mineralization systems for Copper, Cobalt, Gold, and Manganese.
- Experience in data QC, inversion, and anomaly modeling.
- Hands-on expertise in field equipment maintenance and calibration.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in mineral exploration (Africa experience highly preferred).
- Prior experience in Congo / Central African region is a strong advantage.
- Proven leadership in project management, team handling, and field logistics.
- Ability to work in remote project locations with multicultural teams.
- Strong report-writing, analytical, and communication skills in English (French is an added advantage).
- Ready to relocate to Lubumbashi for long-term engagement.
