Group Research & Development Manager - Paint (15-22 yrs)
DESIRED PROFILE :
- M. Tech Paint Technology/Chem. Eng. with relevant Paint industry experience of at least 15 years and above OR Proficient in handling the complexity of Paint formulation/ technical development concepts, latest Raw materials, and process technologies and designing techniques across Decorative/ Industrial/Automotive and Specialized coatings
- Demonstrates good grasp of the different processes and product requirements and ability to solve problems in testing and applications.
- A wealth of experience in troubleshooting, product development processes and ability to understand and translate market requirements into product formulation and specification.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
i. Develop, review and align the Research & Development strategy with the overall business strategy.
ii. Manage the day-to-day operations of R&D by providing guidance, encouraging teamwork, and facilitating related professional work processes to achieve high performance standards.
iii. Manage and direct implementation of research and development procedures and techniques.
iv. Supervise complex research projects, analyze results, and provide recommendations based on findings.
v. Assess the scope of research projects and ensure they are on time and within budget.
vi. Create knowledge that captures correct procedures, policies, and documentation requirements across projects.
vii. Develop innovative products and specialized applications related to paint products.
viii. Undertake implementation and continuous improvement of the quality of products while maintaining cost-effective standards and methods for cost management.
ix. Undertake decisive Cost Reduction in existing products through formula optimization and identifying new and cheaper RMs to replace existing ones.
x. Absorb & indigenize technology related to coatings by regularly interacting with global teams.
xi. Undertake New Product Developments (NPD) for introduction in the market to maintain market lead and generate new revenue for the company.
xii. Conduct trials at customers- place for all new/existing products as required for standardization.
xiv. Maintain relationship with customers, understand their needs and create pipeline projects for customer based on marketing inputs; identify new applications, new opportunities and customer pain areas for value selling.
xv. Identify suitable raw materials and develop specifications of all the raw materials, required to develop paint for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and other industry.
xvi. Extend support to entire group companies for Product Development & Standardization & Customer Trials.
xvii. Provide technical input to Production & QA Dept for critical batches through Root Cause Analysis.
xviii. Provide technical support to Sales by advising corrective actions for line issues and conducting new product line trials for new product commercialization; organize and conduct line trails of new products online and ensure successful implementation.
xix. Coordinate technical training to teams and serve as a technical mentor to team members.
xx. Maintain relationship with bureau of standards, government chemist's office, ISO certifications, Research Institutions, and auditors.
xxi. Responsible for planning of manpower requirements and responsible for 5S and other Kaizen operational requirements in the lab.
xxii. Participate in the implementation of EHS / ISO and good housekeeping standards.
