Essential knowledge and Experience :

About 12-20 years direct production experience in a reputed high volume Automobile ancillary or 'bus body building' unit involving various types of OEM chassis and bus body models.

- Sound technical knowledge of all production processes using mass production tooling for welding, fabrication, painting, assembly, testing and quality clearance

- Good basic knowledge of machinery and equipment maintenance practices

- Good labour control and maintenance of shop floor discipline and knowledge of 5S practices

- Good planning abilities for complex operations involving multiple production stages from raw material preparations till final assembly -will control the PPC function directly

- Good knowledge of modern quality systems use in typical bus production

- Knowledge of tooling design and application for high production efficiency and consistent quality

- Exposure to cost control methods and efficiency improvement in all production stages

- Proficiency in languages -good In spoken English and Hindi and preferably fluent Kannada / Marathi

- Familiar with MS Office package including presentations, developing effective shop floor reports, etc

- A good administrator -since he will be the senior most officer in the Belgaum Complex

Overall responsibility :

The candidate will oversee all operations at the Production Complex including a modern coach plant, an economy bus plant and a seats & trim shop all co-located in the complex.

The complex involves a labour force of about 900 persons and a white collar staff of about 100 persons currently

Specific role and responsibility :

- plan out all production for targeted customer deliveries and also call for materials requirements involved including raw materials, preparatory processes, off loaded parts, etc + all labour requirements every month

- control the PPC function directly under him for liaising with Materials, Vendor Development, Sales, etc as required on an on going basis to deliver the monthly plans

- schedule all operations from preparatory materials till final vehicle assy and control the same on day to day basis with his supervisory team of production managers and staff

- control quality at key stages in process and also final vehicle assy and quality clearance

- continuously improve quality, processes, efficiency and cost reduction for the plant operations

- promote safety practices in all operations involved

- assist in new model and variants development with Product Development teams

- maintain shop floor discipline overall

- liaise at senior levels with various departments like Marketing Materials, HR, Product Devlpt and Engg, Finance where production aspects are involved

- Be a face of the company with local administration, visitors, bodies, etc as and when the needed
