JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: GENERAL MANAGER\ASST. VICE PRESIDENT

Department: PROCUREMENT

Location: LUDHIANA

Position reports to CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

- Inter-departmental coordination with Marketing, Production, Production Planning & Control, Projects, Civil etc

- Vendors (Main Suppliers are TATA\SAIL\Jindal \JSW\Essar)

Main Objective of the Role: Cost effective strategic Procurement of Hot Rolled Coils:

Reporters ( Direct )if any Team of Purchase & Stores department (Nos. 9)

Key Responsibilities :

- Procurement of Hot Rolled Coils (Raw Material)

- Most critical responsibility being Procurement of Hot Rolled Coils from major suppliers i.e. TATA\SAIL\Jindal\JSW\Essar.

- Identifying & developing approved vendor/supplier base for cost effective and procurement of Quality materials, spares, and consumables.

- Formulating budgets for timely procurement of materials, spare parts, production consumables & capital equipment to ensure smooth execution of projects.

- Most competitive commercial negotiations with suppliers.

- An effective communicator with excellent team leadership & strong analytical, problem-solving & organizational skills & abilities in planning and managing resources.

Materials/ Inventory Management :

- Managing stores operations ensuring optimum inventory levels to achieve maximum cost savings without hampering the production process.

- Conducting routine inspection & stock audits to ensure reconciliation of physical stock at the stores

Vendor Development :

- Developing & negotiating with vendors for obtaining timely procurement of materials at favorable terms to ensure smooth functioning.

- Assessment of the performance of the vendors based on various criterions such as quality improvement rate, timely delivery, credit terms etc.

- Develop alternate source of procurement, New vendor assessment and development.

- Import purchases at cost effective prices.

Major Job Qualifications / Specific Skills

Required Education: B.Tech (Mechanical\Metallurgical\Production) Preferred Education: Preferably B.Tech (Mechanical\Metallurgical\Production) and MBA from a reputed institute.

Experience Range: 20-25 Years

Preferred Industries: Essar, Tata, JSW, Bhushan Steels Limited, Surya Roshni, Indian Steels Corporation Limited, Steelco Gujarat Limited, Ruchi Strips, Uttam Galva
