Head - Quality - Wire Plant (20-25 yrs)
Location: Mumbai
Experience: 20+ Yrs
Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B. Tech - Mechanical / Metallurgy
Job Purpose:
To lead and manage the entire Quality Assurance & Quality Control function of the Wire Drawing Plant, ensuring consistent product quality, compliance with customer specifications, statutory standards, and continuous improvement in quality systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Management System (QMS)
- Develop, implement, and sustain QMS in line with ISO standards.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other applicable standards.
- Lead internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of non-conformities.
- Establish SOPs, control plans, and quality documentation systems.
2. Incoming & In-Process Quality Control
- Ensure quality inspection of raw materials (Wire Rods, Lubricants, Chemicals).
- Monitor in-process inspection at critical stages of wire drawing.
- Implement statistical process control (SPC) and process capability studies.
- Ensure control of parameters like tensile strength, elongation, diameter tolerance, surface finish, coating thickness, etc.
3. Final Inspection & Dispatch Quality
- Approve final inspection reports before dispatch.
- Ensure adherence to customer-specific standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor rejection rates and implement corrective actions.
4. Customer Quality & Complaint Handling
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for customer complaints using tools like 8D, Fishbone, Why-Why.
- Coordinate with production and maintenance teams for corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure timely response and closure of customer complaints.
- Participate in customer audits and technical discussions.
5. Laboratory & Testing Management
- Oversee mechanical and chemical testing labs.
- Ensure calibration of testing instruments and compliance with NABL (if applicable).
- Validate test results for tensile testing, microstructure analysis, coating tests, etc.
6. Process Improvement & Cost Reduction
- Drive Six Sigma / Lean initiatives for defect reduction.
