Instrumentation & Automation Engineer (3-7 yrs)

Desired Candidate Profile :

- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent subject with 3-7 years proven experience and competency in similar role in heavy production/manufacturing environment.

- Strong understanding of electrical, control and instrumentation systems (i.e. level sensors, pressure transducers, etc.)

- Programming, editing and fault finding experience on Siemens platforms (PCS7 and Step 7) on S7 200 up to S7 400, HMIs (Siemens) and SCADA system (WinCC, WinCC Flex). Ability to write/modify C scripts.

- Good understanding of different communication protocols (Profibus DP/PA, HART, Modbus and Ethernet).

- Reasonable understanding and experience of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and process systems.

- Proven experience of fault finding, diagnostic and problem solving skills.

- Practical experience of managing High Voltage distribution up to 33kV is desirable.

- Practical experience of CMMS system, SAP experience being a plus.

- Capacity and willingness to respond to after hours breakdowns (physically and remotely).

- Valid First Aid At Work qualification is desirable.

- IT Skills and experience of using computer software applications e.g. Microsoft Office, Internet Browsing, Email applications.

Job Description :


- Responsible for maintaining and improving equipment and automation programmes which are used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery and process.

- Ensure all tasks are performed in compliance with site regulations and procedures such as authorisation to work, permit to work and lock-off

- Specific attention will be dedicated to the development of LOTO TO procedure during commissioning, start-up and operation.

- Execute electrical, control and instrumentation (E, C & I) maintenance tasks including preventive, predictive, reactive, fault finding, calibration, programming/ editing, test and inspection activities.

- Review, improve and maintain reliability, accuracy and availability of automation equipment and systems. This includes contribution to keep automation programmes backup updated, identify redundant and obsolete systems, record modifications, maintain an up to date library of all software and hardware on site, ensure disaster recovery capability for all systems that are based mainly on logic controllers interfaced to computing systems and other technologies as required for controlling, monitoring, recording and reporting purposes.(Siemens PCS7, Step 7, winCC, HMI, Siemens PLCs, Historian database)

- Contribute and provide technical input to specify, design, simulate, test, install and commission E, C & I equipment and systems in co-operation with maintenance and projects requirements.

- Supervise external contractors when they are working and/or executing tasks relating to the E, C & I maintenance. Coordinate E, C & I yearly maintenance activities and contracts (Fixed wire testing, HV maintenance, Earthing test, PAT testing, etc.)

- Manage high voltage network (6.6kV 33kV (not compulsory)) onsite, as a Senior Authorised Person. Responsible for coordinating switching activities and permits for HV and LV infrastructure.

- Provide technical support for the maintenance team on a day to day basis.

- Isolation and making systems/equipment safe to work on for the incumbent and others if required.

- Adherence and contribution to maintain maintenance management policies and framework. This includes updating technical detail, job guidelines, carrying out and recording risk assessments and method statements, using and updating CMMS workflow and database, authorisation to work and lock-off, drawings, financial plans, projects list etc.

- Operating and caring for various equipmentas trained for to assist in safe execution of tasks

- Housekeeping and tidiness in area of responsibility.

- Responding to after hour consultation and provide technical support during equipment failures.

- Responsible for the definition & implementation in the CMMS of the preventative maintenance plan for all electrical & automation equipment of the site (type of intervention, detailed description, frequency, sub-contracted or not )
