Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Instrumentation Technician to join our team and support our client, ONGC, in maintaining, calibrating, and optimizing a wide range of industrial instruments. The ideal candidate will have solid technical expertise in instrumentation systems used in process industries, with hands-on experience in calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instruments used for measurement and control.
Key Responsibilities
Instrumentation Maintenance & Calibration:
Perform routine and preventive calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of process instruments including flow meters, pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, level transmitters, and control valves.
Compliance & Standards:
Conduct periodic calibrations in line with ISO, NABL, and plant standards, ensuring instruments meet accuracy and compliance requirements. Maintain traceability to recognized calibration standards.
Installation & Commissioning:
Oversee and execute the installation, configuration, and commissioning of various types of flow meters such as electromagnetic, ultrasonic, turbine, and vortex, ensuring accurate setup and performance.
Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare, verify, and maintain calibration records, certificates, and reports. Ensure timely documentation and readiness for internal or external audits.
Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:
Diagnose and resolve instrumentation-related problems during plant operations, minimizing downtime and maintaining process efficiency.
Maintenance Planning:
Support preventive maintenance, shutdown maintenance, and condition monitoring programs to ensure consistent plant performance.
Coordination & Vendor Management:
Coordinate with vendors and external calibration agencies for certification, re-calibration, and procurement of instruments or spare parts.
Standard Operating Procedures:
Assist in creating and updating SOPs, maintenance schedules, calibration plans, and technical documentation related to instrumentation systems.
Safety & Quality Compliance:
Follow all safety, quality, and environmental guidelines during installation, calibration, and maintenance activities.
Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to process optimization and energy efficiency through accurate measurement, monitoring, and control.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering or Electronics & Instrumentation (Mandatory).
Experience: 3- 5 years of experience in instrument calibration, flow meter maintenance, and troubleshooting in Oil & Gas, Chemical, or Manufacturing sectors.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of process instrumentation, calibration practices, and control systems.
Soft Skills: Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a team or independently.
Safety Awareness: Commitment to maintaining safe working practices and compliance with company standards.
