Lead - Civil Engineering - Substations & Transmission Line Foundations (15-18 yrs)
The Civil Engineering Lead is responsible for engineering, design review, and execution coordination of civil, structural, and foundation works for EHV substations and transmission line projects, including tower foundation design. The role ensures compliance with CBIP / IS standards, site-specific geotechnical conditions, safety requirements, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering & Design Management:
- Lead civil engineering activities for:
- AIS/GIS substations (220, 400kV, 765kV, HVDC)
- EHV transmission line foundations
Review and approve designs for:
- Substation equipment foundations (transformers, reactors, switchgear)
- Control room, GIS hall, fire walls, cable trenches
- Transmission line tower foundations (pile, open, undercut, raft, well, rock anchoring)
Ensure compliance with:
- IS codes, CBIP manuals, RfP requirements
- Seismic, wind, and terrain-specific requirements
- Coordinate soil investigation and geotechnical studies for substations and tower locations.
Transmission Line Foundation Design (Key Focus):
- Review and finalize tower foundation designs based on:
- Soil classification and SBC
- Uplift, compression, and lateral loads
- Terrain conditions (plain, river crossing, hill, marshy areas)
- Approve foundation type selection and construction methodology.
- Coordinate with transmission line design teams for load inputs and tower configurations.
- Address foundation design challenges at river crossings, rocky strata, high water table areas.
Required Qualifications:
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering
- M.Tech (Structures/Geotechnical) desirable
Experience:
- 15 years in EHV/HV substation and transmission line projects
- Experience with PGCIL, State Utilities, or large EPC projects preferred
Technical Skills:
- Structural design software: STAAD, ETABS, SAFE
- AutoCAD, familiarity with BIM is an advantage
- Strong knowledge of RCC, steel structures, and foundation engineering

- Good communication and documentation skills
- Willingness to support site execution and tight schedules
