Lead Production Engineer (Lvl6)

Position Overview

- The Lead Production Engineer will be a project leader, managing, coordinating, and facilitating continuous improvement in vendors and factories in order to improve the competitiveness of the whole supply chain of the company.

- This role will be across all channels of the company base including Apparel & Accessories (A&A), and Home & Hardlines (H&H). This position will lead a team that will work closely with internal Cross Functional Teams (CFT), Vendors and Factories to identify Manufacturing Excellence (ME) opportunities such as quality enhancement, productivity improvement, cost optimization and Lead Time reduction. The team will validate root causes, provide development insights and facilitate implementation of future state action plans through coaching and training.

- This individual should be familiar with product and process improvement methodologies like Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing, and be familiar with specific manufacturing process in a factory environment.

- Talent with less experience may be considered for Production Engineer or Senior Production Engineer roles and would support the Lead Production Engineer on ME work.

Job Responsibilities

1. Project management for improvement of different ME drivers (quality, productivity, delivery, and cost) in factory environment

2. Develop performance metrics and measurement systems to help quantify operational performance of vendors and factories

3. Identify improvement opportunities as well as analyze challenges to root cause in factory environment

4. Provide managerial and/or technical training to vendors and factories

5. Communicate and facilitate ME work with CFT, vendors, and factories

6. Provide recommendation to industrial designers on product manufacturability and potential quality/conformance issues

Requirements

1. Education

a. Bachelor degree or above (Preferred in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering)

b. Preferred but not a must to be with professional process improvement (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma Black Belt, TOC, Project Management Professional - PMP etc.)

2. Experience

a. Over 10 years manufacturing experience as operation / continuous improvement/ industrial engineering manager in factory

b. Solid experience in product development, production management, quality control or costing

c. Concrete experience in applying systematic process improvement techniques to deliver quantified result

3. Knowledge

a. Product knowledge in terms of industry standard, market requirement, and costing

b. Manufacturing process knowledge in terms of information flow processes organization and project management and improvement methodologies

c. Machinery and automation

4. Hard skills

a. Training and coaching skills to facilitate change management in factory environment

b. Good knowledge on using statistical control tools like Minitab

c. Solid word processing and computer database skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

5. Soft skills

a. Interpersonal skills - listening, communicating, influencing and facilitating improvement - in person or remotely

b. Good analytical mindsets on assessing situations and finding root causes

c. Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, organizational, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills.
