Position Title Mechanical Design Team Lead

Purpose of the Position Knowledgeable & experience person in Mechanical design domain for understanding technical requirements in existing/ upcoming projects & to guide team of mechanical design engineers in their design & engineering activities.

Key Accountabilities

1. System Architecture Development & Requirement finalisation.

Responsible to finalize overall Sytsem Architecture & system requirements for various projects based on scope of work & customer requirement.

2. Mechanical Design & Engineering

a. Design & Development of new products with key focus on QCD (Quality, Control & Delivery);

b. Craft models and drawings of products using CAD Software (Inventor, CATIA, Solidworks, AutoCAD etc.)

c. Material Selection & standard bought out components- selection.

d. Conduct elementary design calculations.

e. Expertise in GD& T, Tolerance stack-ups.

f. Creative design solutions to problems

g. Research new product ideas and methods

h. Ensure compliance with the industry's safety standards

i. Knowledge of metal fabrication, machining, welding processes

j. Knowledge of ISO 9001 And AS 9100 D Requirements

k. Technical solution, Time & Cost estimation for new proposals.

l. Performing failure mode effects & analysis

m. Excellent oral and written communication

n. Knowledge of FEA.

Team Management :

Mentoring to team of young design engineers for design activities. Review & verification of drawings.

Design Documentation :

Creation/review/approval of manufacturing drawings, parts & assembly Instructions etc.

Use of Product lifecycle management software (Teamcentre, Enovia, PTC Windchill etc.)

Performance Measures :

1. New product development 

2. Timely completion

 3. Smooth & reliable conduct of FAT's, SAT's etc. 

4. Ability to resolve run time issues in complex systems

Working Relationship :

Internal (Within the Organization) :

1. Operation Team (Engineering Team, Production, Quality, Marketing, PMO, SCM )- for smooth function of operations

External (Outside the Organization) : 1. Customer 2. OEM's, foreign partners etc.

Desired QR

Education : ME/ MTECH/ BE/ BTech Mechanical Engineering

Experience : 12-14 years post qualification experience in Mechanical design for complex projects.

Industry Preference :Defence/ Automotive/ Electronics
