Manager - Electrical (8-12 yrs)
Job Overview
This role primarily oversees the installation of Main/Emergency Switchboards, Distribution Boards, GMDSS, Navigation & Radio Equipment's, Propulsion control system, Starters & Controllers, PMS, IBS, DP Systems, Alarm & Monitoring System, cable trays, large-scale cabling and termination of all major electrical equipment.
Key Responsibility
- Electrical Production Planning & Control
- Develop and drive detailed micro-plans and resource deployment for the entire electrical installation scope (Tray, Hanger & Penetrations, cable laying, equipment mounting & erection).
- Monitor progress against the master schedule and manage resources using ERP/SAP to prevent production bottlenecks.
B. HV/LV Equipment Installation
- Supervise the precision mounting, anchoring, and alignment of all major electrical equipment, including Main Switchboards, Emergency Switchboards, Power Panels, and Transformers, Consoles, PLC Cabinets & controllers, Electronic Display & Monitors, Transducers & Sensors, Automatic Starter & Switches, Main & Emergency Lighting accessories, Antenna & Scanners, Ensure earthing and connection procedures comply with technical specifications.
C. Shipboard Cabling & Hook-up
- Take full charge of large-scale cable tray erection, cable pulling & dressing, tagging, glanding, termination & clamping for all power circuits (440V, 220V, 12- 24 D.C etc.).
- Ensure all terminations (crimps, lugs) are performed to the highest marine electrical quality standards before energization.
D. Electrical Testing & Trials
- Lead all pre-commissioning checks, focusing on the electrical network: Insulation Resistance (Megger) testing, continuity checks, shore power connectivity, and load bank preparations. Provide essential support during the power-up sequence and Harbour Acceptance Trials (HAT).
E. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all electrical installation works adhere strictly to Class Society rules (IRS, DNV, LRS) and international standards (e.g., SOLAS electrical requirements).
- Coordinate joint inspections with the Quality Control (QC) department and Class surveyors, maintaining comprehensive test documentation.
F. Field Management & QHSE
- Resolve all site-related technical issues pertaining to electrical installation.
- Enforce strict adherence to electrical safety protocols (LOTO, working at height, hot work) and all Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) standards across the E,E&I work area.
