Position : Manager - Forging

Qualification: B. Tech/ BE/ Diploma - Mechanical/ Production/ Industrial/ Metallurgy

Experience: 8 - 10 Years

Job Purpose:

The incumbent will be responsible to lead and manage forging operations. The ideal candidate must possess strong core process knowledge in tooling, die systems, machine setup, defect analysis, productivity improvement, and shopfloor management. The role requires hands-on technical expertise combined with leadership capabilities to drive operational excellence, quality, and safety standards.

Job Responsibilities:

- In-depth knowledge of Tooling & Die design, development, maintenance, and optimization for fastener forging.

- Expertise in machine setup, tool setting, die alignment, and process parameter optimization.

- Strong understanding of multi-station cold / hot forging processes.

- Monitor and control forging parameters to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface quality.

- Perform root cause analysis for forging defects such as cracks, laps, underfill, mismatch, etc.

- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

- Work closely with QA team to reduce rejection and improve first-pass yield.

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, Lean practices).

- Achieve daily/monthly production targets with optimum utilization of manpower and machines.

- Improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

- Reduce cycle time, tool change time, and material wastage.

- Ensure effective production control and minimize downtime.

- Strong understanding of raw materials used in fasteners (Alloy steel, Carbon steel, Stainless steel).

- Knowledge of material behavior during forging and heat treatment.

- Coordination with procurement and quality teams for material compliance.

- Ensure adherence to safety standards and statutory compliance.

- Promote 5S and maintain shopfloor discipline.

- Conduct safety audits and training programs.

- Ensure proper usage of PPE and safe machine operations.
