Manager - Sales Engineering - Polymers (6-15 yrs)
We are looking for an experienced professional with strong expertise in plastics processing and engineering thermoplastics (ETPs). The role involves material selection, conducting molding trials, and developing new applications with engineering thermoplastics.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure customer satisfaction at major accounts through technical engagement, best practice sharing, and quick complaint resolution.
Collaborate with customers, Tier 1 & Tier 2 suppliers, and OEMs, particularly in injection molding; optimize machine settings for higher productivity.
Provide mold design recommendations for optimal part performance and material utilization.
Conduct business consultations: educate internal and external teams on technical aspects, lead technical sessions/forums, and deliver value-added training and productivity services.
Drive growth by qualifying new programs into manufacturable components within customer infrastructure.
Guide sales teams on product and mold design aspects; frequent travel across India for customer and team support.
Share knowledge on product, mold design, and toolmaking with team members to strengthen in-house competencies.
Lead trials for new applications and support successful implementation in component manufacturing.
Technical Service Responsibilities:
Support implementation of new and existing applications with technical solutions.
Provide on-site and off-site troubleshooting, consulting, and complaint resolution on technical issues.
Evaluate and optimize processing/formulation aspects for current and new products.
Collect and analyze customer feedback to assess product suitability and performance.
Deliver expert technical opinions during customer trials, including optimization, troubleshooting, and training.
Provide market intelligence and competitive product performance analysis.
Ensure compliance with EHS regulations while managing day-to-day activities.
Requirements:
BE/B.Tech in Plastics, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering / CIPET qualification / M.Tech.
6- 10 years of relevant experience in the plastics industry.
Desired Competencies:
- Strong background in plastics part design, metal replacement applications, process modeling, and tooling.
- Exposure to product design cycles and styling preferred.
- In-depth understanding of thermoplastic materials, material characterization, and manufacturing methods such as injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, blow molding, and roto-molding.
- Knowledge of simulation tools (Mold Flow) and CAE/CAD tools.
- Ability to work in global teams with strong communication and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies is an advantage.
Skills & Abilities:
- Expertise in injection molding, processing, and engineering thermoplastics.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities, process orientation, and molding technique knowledge.
- Quick resolution of customer complaints and proactive adoption of new processing/materials.
- Ability to collaborate across regions and apply latest technologies.
- Proficiency in MS Office, excellent communication skills, adaptability, and teamwork.
