Manufacturing Manager - Liquid Detergent & Toilet Soap Manufacturing (7-15 yrs)
UG-Preferably B.Tech /B.E - Mechanical, Chemical, Production
Functional Experience: Approx7-10 years of experience in a FMCG industry (preferably Soaps & liquid Detergents). Experience of leading a large team comprising of operators and contract workers. Exposure to other companies- manufacturing systems and shop floor culture
Job Description: Manufacturing Manager
Develop Systems, processes and procedures for effective working
- Develop processes, procedures and systems required to manage Production, Quality Control, Engineering and S.H.E (Safety, health and environment) for effective working.
- To ensure that SOP is available and followed for all Production processes.
- Ensure adherence to core processes like KPI setting, quarterly and annual Review.
- Ensuring SOPs are followed by operators.
Safety Consciousness
- Safety is of prime importance and first and foremost aspect to be well taken care off and as head of Production department I have to ensure that team is following mandated safety standards and are regularly getting Safety trainings as per the company targets.
- Along with this also have to assure that mandated Safety norms and standards are fully followed by team in routine working.
- Required Personal Protective Equipments (PPE- s) such as P3-nose mask, safety shoes, googles, should be well used by each and every member of my team as per their job requirement to avoid accidents and hazardous conditions.
Quality Consciousness
- To ensure DPMU (Defect per million units) is within defined parameters, Zero depot freeze and finished goods packing should be as per PCRO norms (Packed commodity releasing order).
- Ensure quality product is manufactured meeting desired targets as per requirements of customer and consumer.
- Ensuring all quality related parameters are met during production.
Productivity
- To ensure that plant is working at Optimum efficiency level using (OEE-Overall Equipment Efficiency) methodology.
- To responsible for entire production process of the unit. Supervise factory workers and ensure that factory operations run smoothly
- Management Run quality assessment, knowledge of extrusion.
- To Ensure and maintain good health of all the Equipments and machineries through regular Preventive maintenance. Always keep focusing on Zero Break Downs in Plant.
- Ensure Technical Efficiency- Analyzing weekly, monthly and yearly basis in consultation with Commercial department.
- To report daily production status.
Coordination:
- Coordination & meetings with other supportive departments. Ensure adherence to core processes like KPI setting, quarterly and annual Review.
- Managing timelines and deliverables with internal and external stakeholders.
Audits
- Ensure all operations of manufacturing are carried out as per audits requirement viz.-BRC, MMS, HH, ECC etc.
- Ensuring accurate and timely record keeping and data entry (shift log books, CCP records, Why-Why analysis & safety & statutory records).
Manpower Management
- Responsible for retention of manpower in Production department by keeping the morale up in day to day working and upgrading their skills.
- Responsible for controlling the attrition of talented employees and workers.
- Responsible for controlling of Overtimes in his department.
- Ensuring disruption free operation by addressing shop-floor dispute of workers and don- t let such arguments to crop up as IR issues/unionized issues.
- Redeploying people based on competencies or gaps identified at a particular workstation so as to build the capability of people and line.
- Preparing the manpower plan for contract workers on a daily basis. Deployment of workmen on respective workstations as per plan.
- Preparing the weekly/monthly manpower plan for the workers based on the production plan - preparing the shift roster and displaying it on the notice board.
Cost-Saving
- To meet business objectives through cost reduction projects (Labor cost, Utilities, OEE improving, Waste reduction, Power consumption & study of cycle time for optimization).
- Cost saving measures in Power Consumption and Maintenance Cost.
Wastage Control
- To control and maintain all the wastages like Packing Material & Raw Materials with in the allowable limits.
- Should understand the requirements of production and the need to have all machines maintained at optimal level.
- Ensuring minimal wastage, optimum manpower utilization, and optimal usage of consumables & operating at maximum efficiencies.
Trainings & Team Development
- To conduct/arrange all Internal and external trainings on Safety, Quality, Productivity and technical efficiency.
- To develop team in a manner that regular updations, innovations and automations take place in plant to meet the challenges.
- To identify and implement training and developmental needs Skills and Abilities of the team.
- Ensuring training compliances as per the audit requirements.
- Working with HR on imparting training to multi skill the operatives and periodic changed contractual manpower on basics requirements of the shop-floor.
- Support HR In development of training modules.
New Initiatives
- New initiatives to be taken as an on-going process to bring necessary improvement in Production process by bringing-in new ideas, innovations which result in cost-saving.
- Lead Total Productivity Management (TPM) by way of 5S.
- Implement Kaizen (Continuous improvement tools) for boosting Efficiency, Productivity and waste reduction on shop-floor.
- Implementation of change initiatives and supporting continuous improvement in department.
