Add. Qualifications :

Chartered Engineer (CE) status or Professional Engineer (PE) license (if applicable) is highly desirable

Overall Experience :

- 7-12 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with a specific focus on Pre- Engineered Building (PEB) systems.

DC Specific Exp :

- Minimum 4-6 years of direct, hands-on experience in the design and technical review of PEB structures specifically for mission-critical facilities, data centers

Role Purpose:

The PEB Specialist is a key technical expert within the CSA Design Department, responsible for leading the conceptualization, detailed design, analysis, and optimization of Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) structures for new data center projects and expansions across India. This role ensures that PEB designs meet stringent data center requirements for structural integrity, heavy equipment loading, vibration control, scalability, and seamless integration with complex Mechanical, Electrical, IT, and Fire Systems.

The PEB Specialist will drive efficient, cost-effective, and code-compliant PEB solutions, coordinating closely with internal design teams and external PEB manufacturers to deliver robust and highperformance data center shells and ancillary buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

- PEB Design & Optimization:

- Lead the conceptual and detailed structural design of PEB components for data center facilities, including main frames, secondary members, bracing systems, and connection details.

- Optimize PEB designs for structural efficiency, material usage, and ease of fabrication/erection while meeting all specified performance criteria.

- Conduct or review advanced structural analysis using relevant software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000) for various load conditions including dead, live (especially heavy equipment loads), wind, seismic (as per IS codes), and snow loads where applicable.

- Explore possibility for adoption in PEB design for new pre-engineered materials such as wall panels, fa- ade, services support, staircase modules, etc. to optimised construction timeline without compromising on quality.

- Technical Specification & Procurement Support:

- Develop comprehensive technical specifications for PEB components, materials (e.g., steel grades, cladding types), and fabrication/erection quality requirements.

- Provide expert technical input during the PEB vendor selection process, assisting the procurement team in evaluating proposals, conducting technical audits of potential suppliers, and ensuring compliance with specifications.

- Provide technical inputs for obtaining desired fire rating for the PEB structure by impleting specialised coating process such as fire rated paint coating etc.

Vendor Design Review & Coordination:

- Rigorously review and approve PEB manufacturer's detailed design calculations, shop drawings, erection drawings, and material submittals to ensure adherence to project specifications, design intent, and code compliance.

- Act as the primary technical interface with PEB manufacturers and their design teams,resolving technical queries and ensuring proper integration of PEB with other building elements.

Inter-disciplinary Coordination & Integration:

- Collaborate extensively with Civil, Structural, Architectural, MEP, IT, Fire Systems, and Security design teams to ensure seamless integration of PEB structures.

- Address critical interfaces such as roof penetrations for HVAC units, supports for electrical bus ducts and cable trays, openings for chillers/generators, fire-rated wall integration,and secure building envelope requirements.

- Ensure PEB design accommodates for specialized data center elements like raised floor support, Utility support system, equipment support system, equipment pads with specific load requirements, and vibration isolation for sensitive IT equipment.

- Standards, Codes & Compliance (India Focus):

- Possess expert knowledge of and ensure strict adherence to relevant Indian Standards (IS codes) for steel structures (e.g., IS 800 for general construction, IS 875 for design loads, IS 1893 for seismic design), and the National Building Code (NBC 2016).

- Ensure PEB designs comply with applicable global data center standards (e.g., TIA-942,Uptime Institute Tier requirements for structural reliability and redundancy).

- Lead the structural documentation for regulatory submissions and support the approval process with relevant statutory bodies.

- Value Engineering & Optimization:

- Proactively identify and propose value engineering opportunities specific to PEB solutions to optimize CAPEX and construction timelines without compromising structural integrity, quality, or functionality.

- Evaluate alternative PEB systems, materials, and construction methodologies to achieve cost efficiencies and faster project delivery.

- Construction Support & Quality Assurance:

- Provide expert technical support to the construction team for any PEB-related challenges during fabrication, logistics, erection, and final installation.

- Support site quality audits for PEB components and erection processes, ensuring adherence to approved drawings and specifications.

- Setup - SOP- to monitor and ensure desire quality output at various stages of fabrication as well as erection cycle of the project.

- Documentation & Reporting:

- Oversee the creation and management of comprehensive PEB design documentation, including design basis reports, structural analysis reports, review comments, and technical specifications.

- Provide regular updates on PEB design progress, challenges, and key technical decisions to the Senior Executive and other project stakeholders.

- Upkeeping inspection reports generated during quality and safety monitoring during fabrication and installation process.

- Research & Innovation:

- Stay updated on the latest advancements, technologies, and best practices in the global PEB industry, especially as applied to data centers.

- Contribute to the development of internal PEB design guidelines and standards.

 Planning & Scheduling Coordination

- Collaborate closely with project planners to develop and maintain detailed design and construction schedules for PEB-related activities.

- Proactively provide design status updates, highlight potential delays or risks, and suggest mitigation measures to keep the project on track.

- Participate in regular schedule review meetings, ensuring critical PEB milestones align with overall data center delivery timelines.
