Principal Engineer - Powertrain Design Quality - EV + IC Engines (15-22 yrs)

A leading automotive OEM / EV-focused mobility platform is looking to hire a senior Principal Engineer to lead Powertrain Design Quality across EV and internal combustion engine systems. The role owns end-to-end design quality strategy, early quality integration, and governance for critical powertrain components, working closely with design, manufacturing, suppliers, and testing teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and scale the Powertrain Design Quality function across EV and IC engine systems

- Define and drive design quality strategy aligned with global standards and business goals

-Ensure robust design quality across casting, machining, sheet metal, plastics, and hydraulic components
 
- Drive early quality interventions through DFMEA, DVP&R, and design validation processes

- Review and approve critical design decisions for performance, durability, and regulatory compliance

- Mentor and develop senior design quality engineers and promote technical capability building

Ideal Candidate Profile

- 15+ years of experience in automotive powertrain design quality or product development

- Strong exposure to EV and IC engine systems including gearbox, motor, and HV battery pack

- Deep expertise in GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and design for manufacturing principles

- Working knowledge of DFMEA, DFM, DFC, DFS, and APQP

- Ability to interpret FE / CAE results and guide simulation-driven design decisions

- Experience in OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, or EV-focused product organizations

- Strict Exclusions (Only if Applicable)

- Pure manufacturing or plant quality backgrounds without design ownership

- Non-automotive product backgrounds
