Job Summary :

The Industrial Solar Project Electrician is responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems for large-scale industrial solar power projects. This role involves working on solar PV plants, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and grid interconnection systems while ensuring compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities :

- Install and connect solar PV modules, string inverters, central inverters, combiner boxes, DC & AC distribution boards.

- Perform DC string wiring, cable termination, glanding, and crimping.

- Install, test, and commission transformers, HT/LT panels, switchgear, and protection systems.

- Execute earthing and lightning protection systems as per project design.

- Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams (SLD), and layout plans.

- Conduct insulation resistance tests, continuity tests, and other electrical testing procedures.

- Assist in grid synchronization and commissioning activities.

- Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in solar plant systems.

- Ensure compliance with local electrical codes and industrial safety standards.

- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and maintain proper PPE usage.

- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and project teams to meet deadlines.

- Maintain records of installation, testing, and maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications:

- ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or relevant technical qualification.

- Valid electrical license (as per local regulations).

- 3- 7 years of experience in industrial electrical work, with at least 1- 2 years in solar projects preferred.

- Experience in handling HT/LT systems is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

- Knowledge of solar PV systems and grid-connected power plants.

- Familiarity with inverters (string/central), transformers, RMU, and switchgear.

- Ability to read and understand SLDs and electrical schematics.

- Experience with cable tray installation, cable laying (underground/overhead), and termination.

- Understanding of SCADA and monitoring systems (basic knowledge preferred).

- Proficiency in using electrical testing instruments (megger, multimeter, clamp meter, etc.).

Soft Skills :

- Ability to work under project deadlines.

- Safety-conscious mindset.

Working Conditions:

- Outdoor fieldwork at solar plant sites (industrial environments).

- Work at heights and in high-temperature conditions.

- May require travel to project sites and extended working hours during commissioning.

- Ability to lift and handle electrical equipment and cables.

- Comfortable working at heights and in open field environments.

- Physically fit for industrial site conditions.
