Job Summary :
The Project Site Manager - Solar Project is responsible for overall on-site execution of utility-scale or industrial solar power projects. This role ensures safe, timely, and cost-effective completion of the project in accordance with engineering designs, quality standards, and contractual requirements. The Site Manager coordinates civil, mechanical, and electrical teams while maintaining strict compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Project Execution & Coordination :
- Lead day-to-day site operations for ground-mounted / rooftop solar projects.
- Coordinate civil, mechanical (module mounting structures), and electrical installation activities.
- Ensure execution as per approved drawings, BOQ, and technical specifications.
- Monitor project schedules and ensure milestone achievement.
- Liaise with EPC contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
2. Planning & Monitoring :
- Prepare site execution plans and weekly/monthly progress reports.
- Track manpower, materials, and equipment utilization.
- Ensure timely availability of materials at site.
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
3. Quality Control :
- Ensure compliance with project quality standards and inspection procedures.
- Verify installations as per Single Line Diagrams (SLD), layout drawings, and design documents.
- Coordinate inspections and testing activities (civil foundations, structure alignment, cable termination, etc.).
4. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) :
- Enforce strict adherence to site safety protocols and PPE usage.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety, work-at-height standards, and statutory regulations.
- Report and investigate incidents or near-miss events.
5. Client & Stakeholder Management :
- Act as the primary point of contact at the project site.
- Attend client meetings and provide progress updates.
- Coordinate with DISCOM / utility authorities for grid connectivity and approvals (if applicable).
6. Commissioning & Handover
- Oversee testing and commissioning of inverters, transformers, HT/LT panels, and SCADA systems.
- Ensure punch points are closed before project handover.
- Support documentation for final project submission and as-built drawings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Electrical or Civil Engineering.
- 7- 12 years of experience in power or renewable energy projects.
- Minimum 3- 5 years of experience in solar project site management.
- Experience in handling utility-scale solar projects preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems (modules, inverters, transformers, HT/LT systems).
- Knowledge of civil foundations, mounting structures, and cable routing.
- Ability to interpret SLDs, layout drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with project management tools (MS Project / Primavera preferred).
- Knowledge of grid synchronization and commissioning procedures.
