SUMMARY :

- Responsibility for developing program parts plans as well as review of part qualifications and bills of material. Also responsible for identifying, qualifying, documenting and releasing components for our line of products. 


- Must drive the component selection process and perform work in a consultative manner as the subject matter expert.

- Will closely associate with electronic and product development, manufacturing, and quality to support the development and sustainment of all components. 


- Perform life cycle management, component selection and qualification; obsolescence analysis; and manufacturing support on legacy and newly developed products. 


- Evaluate, analyze and understand component engineering problems, then select components that resolve the problem. 


- Assure the availability of components required to manufacture current products and interact with purchasing and/or supply chain to recognize/avoid potential procurement issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Project team support across commodities as the resident component expert

- Research component datasheets and technical specifications and evaluate technical attributes of components to identify and recommend replacements to obsolete or costly components

- Locate and qualify new potential component suppliers

- Support New Product Introduction by developing cost model, lead time, qualification, roadmap, alternate component suggestions, and follow up with vendors

- Review and evaluate component PCNs and FA reports, evaluating issues and risk to the project

- Responsible for coordinating and tracking all component root cause failure analysis and implementing corrective action

- Commodity research, including identifying supply chain opportunities and tracking supplier roadmaps

- Support Engineering, Materials, and Manufacturing (Electrical/Materials & Processes) in parts selections (thru hole & SMT) for new developments, existing product upgrades and parts obsolescence and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) issues

- Support counterfeit prevention program by identifying component level testing requirements to determine authenticity of parts received from non-franchised distributors Anticipate, identify, and solve problems independently

- Review parts lists of electronic circuit card assemblies; verify pad to part footprints and mechanical /electrical interfaces on new and revised designs

BOM scrubbing :

- Apply rigorous methodology to design and design optimization

- Documenting and releasing all component specifications Act as a strong contributor at design reviews and project meetings

- Demonstrate a strong level of knowledge in documentation tools and processes

- Candidates should also be able to co-ordinate effectively with various disciplines (SW, HW, Mechanical, Mfg, Test, CM) during project development.

- Be self-motivated and willing and able to operate with little direct guidance or supervision, work effectively with incomplete or vaguely defined requirements.
