About the role:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Rightbot, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical systems for cutting-edge robotic products and automation solutions. You will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, and product designers, to bring innovative concepts to life. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the functionality, reliability, and performance of the company's robotic systems, contributing to the growth and success of the startup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical Design: Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems for robotic products, including conceptualization, prototyping, and detailed engineering. Ensure designs are aligned with performance goals, manufacturability, and
cost targets.
- Robotics Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical components with electrical, software, and control systems. Ensure seamless interaction between different subsystems for optimal overall system performance.
- Prototyping and Testing: Build and oversee the construction of prototypes for validation and testing purposes. Develop testing protocols, conduct experiments, and analyze data to iterate and refine designs for improved functionality and performance.
- Design Optimization: Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and performance of robotic systems. Utilize engineering analysis, simulations, and industry best practices to optimize designs.
- Manufacturing Support: Work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure a seamless transition from prototyping to mass production. Provide guidance on design for manufacturing (DFM) principles to facilitate efficient and cost-effective production processes.
- Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers within the mechanical engineering team. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Innovation and Research: Stay updated on the latest trends, advancements, and technologies in robotics, automation, and mechanical engineering. Identify opportunities to incorporate emerging technologies into product development.
Position Requirements:
- Education: A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Typically, 3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering roles, preferably in the robotics, automation, or mechatronics domains.
- Robotic Systems Knowledge: Solid understanding of robotic kinematics, dynamics, and control principles. Familiarity with various types of robotic systems, such as manipulators, mobile robots, and automated systems.
- CAD Proficiency: Proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for creating detailed mechanical designs and assemblies.
- Simulation and Analysis: Experience with engineering simulation and analysis tools for evaluating mechanical designs.
- Prototyping Skills: Familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques and various fabrication methods, such as CNC machining, 3D printing, and sheet metal fabrication will be preferred.
- Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and external partners.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges.
- Innovation Mindset: A passion for innovation and a willingness to explore new ideas and technologies to push the boundaries of robotic systems.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and effectively prioritize projects in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to evolving project requirements and take ownership of tasks beyond the scope of traditional mechanical engineering.
