Risk Engineer - Chemical (6-12 yrs)

Key Responsibilities:

- Assess the quality of complex risks as described in the appropriate standard(s) and related competency level and assess loss potentials in accordance with agreed definitions.

- Support external customers by identifying and reducing the risks that they face individually, and on an overall account basis.

- Provide appropriate risk improvement advice and implement risk improvement programs.

- Share technical expertise with colleagues, business partners and customers through training delivery or participation in a Centre of Expertise or industry segment.

- Produce work that complies with Company standards, in terms of technical quality of policies and procedures.

- Anticipate, recognize and respond to the needs of customers by providing expert solutions and training to key customer(s), and contribute to Business Operation Profit through opportunity spotting.

- Develop and maintain positive customer and business partner relationships and collaborate with both customers and Business partners to develop appropriate service plans.

- Resolve technical issues, problems and projects in reference to policies and procedures within a specific function or unit.

Business Accountabilities:

- Utilize established financial systems to assess loss potential in order to manage and control exposure to the organization.

- Develop a simple business case for a defined project to determine potential benefits, clarify the rationale for investment and support the planning process.

- Develop and maintain positive customer and business partner relationships and collaborate with both customers and business partners to develop appropriate service plans.

- Research primary data sources, select relevant information related to ordinary types of risks and make appropriate recommendations to external customers.

- Act as technical expert supporting external customers by identifying, assessing and reducing the risk they face in order to contribute to the continuous improvement of customer services.

- Maintain oversight of service delivery to the customer to ensure service expectations are fulfilled, reinforcing customer focus across the team.

- Provide specialist risk improvement advice to address specific technical queries from internal clients and deliver appropriate risk improvement programs, in line with the organization's policies and processes and regulatory requirements.

- Contribute to the Business Operating Profit through opportunity spotting and cross selling, where feasible.

- Anticipate, recognize and respond to the needs of customers by providing expert solutions and training to key customer(s) and support Business Operation Profit through opportunity spotting and cross-selling.

Basic Qualifications:

- Must have minimum bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical or Mechanical engineering) with post qualification experience of minimum 8 years.

- Excellent knowledge of chemical and pharmaceutical and related industries, preferably with experience of working on-site and/or prior experience of conducting risk assessments.

- Experience of working in a team environment. Should be able to conduct independently without requiring day to day supervision in a lean global organization set-up.

- Excellent understanding of industry best practices, codes and standards.

- Can combine ability to understand, converse and document in English. Proficiency in other Indian languages (notably Hindi) would be preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Ability to assess loss potential from agreed definitions

- Strong written and verbal communication skills and consultative skills to identify and implement risk reduction strategies with customers

- Outstanding collaborative skills

- Able to conduct presentations with large and small groups at all business level

- Familiarity with fire protection codes of India (IS standards, NBC, etc.) and leading international codes (NFPA, LPC, etc.)

- Proficient computer and software skills - should be able to use various systems and tools of the company (MS Office, MS Dynamics, MS Teams, Co-Pilot, Sharepoint, etc.)

- Experience in similar role with any of the leading global insurers or brokers is a plus

- Business mindset with a proven ability to obtain fee for service is a plus

- Having an existing knowledge of the insurance market would be beneficial, but not essential.
