Roles and responsibilities :
- As a Senior Structural Engineer you make (complex) structural designs and calculations of both existing and new constructions. In addition, you check the designs and calculations from the department and you have an active role in maintaining and improving quality.
- Your know-how of practical implementations and constructive insight is the intermediate link in the creation of a correct design.
- You coordinate with the modeller(s) and give advice, both internally and externally. Contributing innovations to improve the calculations is part of the work.
- In a (multidisciplinary) project team you will work in accordance with design standards and guidelines on the structural design of buildings, structures, and sites. This mainly concerns concrete and steel constructions in an industrial environment.
- Within the project team you act as an advisory and design engineer. For mono-disciplinary assignments, in the future, you also act as the direct point of contact for the customer, you follow up on the project status and inform/report to the manager.
- Together with the project leader and modellers you work from scope phase until final design including the elaboration of the design in various possible phases of the design. You check construction drawings and prepare calculations of, among other things, reinforcement, concrete, steel, etc.
- Preparing and checking calculation reports and consultancy reports is something you do well. You work together with the modeller(s), structural engineers, and project leaders to produce a complete detailed plan. The quality of the engineering is of paramount importance at SPIE, participating in quality development is always appreciated even as coming up with innovations and optimisations.
