Senior DC Motor Design Engineer - Electrical Vehicle Design (10-15 yrs)
- This position is to Design Low and High Voltage Electric Drive Motors ( complete Rotors and Stators Design and prototype Development), located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The team is engaged in design and development of electric motor for Ampere's Electric Vehicles product lines.
- The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and implement strategies and tools to conduct electromagnetic FEA analysis of motor / generator designs.
- This work will include model creation and analysis, 2D & 3D FEA model setup and running, critical analysis and communication of the results, correlation to test results, and summary analysis, Design option selection and implementations.
- Significant interaction and communication with electrical Vehicle design Team. Tools used will include but are not limited to SPEED, and MATLAB.
Required Technical Skills :
- Work experience of 10 years plus in Mechatronics or Motor Design with Electric Drive traction and control systems Designs
- Knowledge of electromagnetic designs such as motors, generators, and power converters
- Understanding, Design and Working knowledge of Permanent Magnet, Switched Reluctance, and AC Induction Motors & Generators and Induction traction motors
- Strong communication skills, written and oral
- Highly competent data analysis capability
- Ability to learn and utilize multiple analysis tools,
- Ability to design from Spec to Production Motor
- Experience and familiarity with electro-magnetics
- Experience with 3 phase power systems
- Experience and familiarity with Finite Element Analysis
- Experience with building of prototypes
- Experience with MCAD software such Solidworks or ProE is a plus
Qualifications :
- Master's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with a motor design focus
- Motor simulation and modeling experience using Speed, Motorcad, Maxwell, or equivalents
- Vector control & Field control understanding
- Experience with thermal modeling and analysis
- Complete Component development & test experience
- Experience with Electric and Hybrid Vehicle
- Strong overall knowledge base of mechatronics, electro-magnetics, and motors
- Understanding and desire for complex modeling and analysis
- Motivated self-starter who is result oriented and deadline driven
- Comfortable as a hands-on contributor or a in a lead role
Job Responsibilities :
- Development of custom high performance motors
- Dynamic and thermal performance analysis for magnetics designs
- Direct technical interface for customers and other Agencies for safety and other compliances
- Development of motor test methods and systems
- Interfacing with suppliers on the manufacture of motor components
- Cross-functional collaboration in prototype building and production group
