Senior Engineer - New Product Development - Electric Vehicle Domain (2-7 yrs)
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer with expertise in New Product Development (NPD), Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Management, and Cost Optimization in the 2W/3W automobile or electric vehicle (EV) domain. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of collaborating with suppliers, managing manufacturing processes, and contributing to productivity improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Product Development (NPD): Lead and manage NPD activities, including design feasibility, prototyping, and production support, focusing on components such as Wire Harnesses, Electrical Components, and other critical systems in EVs.
- Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute sourcing strategies for components and materials, leveraging a strong network of sourcing partners.
- Supplier Technical Assistance: Provide technical guidance to suppliers, ensuring process and quality alignment with company standards.
- Supplier Quality Assurance: Monitor and improve supplier quality through audits, process validation, and corrective action plans.
- Cost Management: Conduct Zero-Based Costing (ZBC) and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) exercises to optimize costs without compromising quality.
- Process Knowledge: Develop and implement advanced manufacturing processes and facility planning to support high-quality production.
- Alternate Sourcing: Identify and onboard alternative suppliers to mitigate risks and enhance supply chain resilience.
- Productivity Improvements: Drive initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
- Negotiation Skills: Negotiate effectively with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.
Key Requirements:
- Hands-on experience in EV products and familiarity with imports will be a significant advantage.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, technologies, and facility planning for 2W/3W vehicles.
- Proven ability to work under timeline-driven targets and achieve project milestones.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of Wire Harnesses, Electrical Components, Batteries, and Battery Management Systems (BMS).
- Experience in conducting VAVE exercises and implementing cost optimization strategies.
- A strong network of supplier partners and familiarity with EV-specific sourcingchallenges.
