Senior Mechanical Engineer (5-8 yrs)

Bangalore Job Code: 44158

Role: Senior Mechanical Engineer - Product Development (EV Infrastructure)

Location: Bengaluru, India (HSR Layout/Regional Office)

Experience: 5 - 8 Years

Employment Type: Full-Time | On-Roll

Work Model: 6 Days (Mon-Fri Office | Sat WFH)

Timings: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM

About company:

It is a high-growth, Pre-Series A funded EV infrastructure startup on a mission to build India's largest universal charging network. Backed by Inflection Point Ventures and Venture Catalysts, we partner with marquee clients like Amazon, IOCL, and VinFast. We are looking for a hands-on Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of our next-generation EV charging hardware.

The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be the backbone of our hardware development. You will bridge the gap between complex power electronics and rugged, outdoor-ready enclosures. You will own the product lifecycle from initial concept and CAD modeling to thermal simulation, prototyping, and mass production.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Design & Enclosure Engineering

Lead the mechanical design of EV chargers using SolidWorks/Creo, focusing on structural integrity and aesthetics.

Research and select materials suitable for harsh environmental exposure (UV, heat, rain).

Design high-performance IP-rated enclosures (IP65/67) with advanced sealing and gasketing solutions.

Optimize designs for DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) to ensure cost-efficient mass production.

2. Thermal & Structural Simulation

Perform hand calculations and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for stress, impact resistance, and bolted joints.

Design and validate Thermal Management Systems (heatsinks, airflow, and ventilation) to handle high-power electronics.

Use simulation data to reduce product weight while maintaining structural safety.

3. Prototyping & Vendor Management

Manage relationships with vendors for Sheet Metal fabrication, CNC machining, and Injection Molding.

Oversee prototype assembly and conduct rigorous physical testing to validate simulation results.

Identify and fix design flaws during the Alpha/Beta testing phases.

4. Documentation & Compliance

Maintain detailed BOM (Bill of Materials), technical drawings, and design reports.

Ensure all designs meet Indian and International safety standards for EV infrastructure.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education: B.E / B.Tech or M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience: 5 - 8 years in mechanical design (Electronics, Automotive, or Energy sector preferred).

Technical Mastery: Strong command over Sheet Metal design and fabrication (bending, welding, forming).

Software: Expert proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo.

Simulation: Proven experience in FEA and Thermal Simulation tools.

Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of IP-rated enclosure design and DFM/DFA principles.

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with PCB thermal packaging.

Prior experience in the EV or Renewable Energy industry (e.g., Solar Inverters, Power Banks).

Exposure to automotive environmental testing standards (AIS/ISO).

Why Join?

Innovation at Core: Work on patented technology that is shaping the future of Indian mobility.

High Visibility: Direct collaboration with the Founders and CTO (Author of NITI Aayog EV Handbook).

Growth: Opportunity to lead a team as the company scales from Pre-Series A to Series A.
