Job Title: Senior Project Engineer

Reports To: Lead Engineer / Project Manager

Division: Chennai Operations (Australia-Based MNC)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our team at the Chennai operations of an Australia-based MNC. In this role, you will take ownership of multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality requirements. 

- You will manage projects from the internal kick-off meeting through to the receipt of final customer payments, while also mentoring and supporting junior project engineers. This role requires technical acumen, leadership skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Project Activities

- Support sales by evaluating RFQ packages and preparing accurate quote estimates.

- Review and ensure sales job files are comprehensive before internal kick-off meetings.

- Identify potential grey areas or omissions and document timelines for resolution.

- Analyze past project issues and implement strategies to mitigate risks in future projects.

Project Management

- Develop and execute detailed project plans, incorporating changes as necessary.

- Ensure engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and quality strategies comply with contractual requirements and company procedures.

- Monitor project scope and proactively identify and document opportunities for EOT (Extension of Time) and EOC (Extension of Cost).

- Facilitate timely claims in line with contractual obligations.

Collaboration and Communication

- Work closely with engineers, managers, clients, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on project deliverables and expectations.

- Maintain organized and comprehensive project documentation for all critical communication and decisions.

- Provide regular updates on project progress, performance, and risks to reporting managers and stakeholders.

Quality and Risk Management

- Oversee quality control and assurance checks and ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and best practices.

- Identify project risks and propose effective corrective actions.

- Continuously enhance project management tools, methodologies, and processes.

Additional Responsibilities

Perform tasks as assigned by the reporting manager to meet organizational needs.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field; certification in Project Management is a plus.

Technical Skills:

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

- Familiarity with commercial terms and financial objectives related to project execution.

Soft Skills:

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

- High attention to detail and a focus on quality and accuracy.

- Leadership skills and the ability to guide and mentor team members.

Other:

Flexibility to travel to project sites as needed.
