Service Manager - Rail Road (5-15 yrs)

The opportunity is with a reputed multinational organization and you are best fit if you are adept at handling Rail Grinding and Railroad Maintenance Equipment and have experience in Bulk Materials Handling/Power/Engineering Industry and have adequate site working experience.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

The role of the Manager, Service is to manage and coordinate technical & operational support of customer equipment by understanding individual customer needs and coordinating Loram's response either personally or via direct reports.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Customer Relationship Management

- Sustain the - Best Practices Guide- for behavior, activities and communication at customer sites.

- Establish and sustain open communication and trusting relationships with customers

- Develop training plans and deliver classes and on-the-job training to customers.

- Manage the safe delivery of technical services to external customers to grow aftermarket parts and service revenue.

- Develop the technical warranty support program for each new product and customer.

Technical Expertise

- Lead the development and implementation of international technical service strategy.

- Develop a culture of safety for personnel operating and travel practices.

- Define, supervise and conduct machine commissioning activities, overhauls and modifications to customer equipment.

- Advise on the need for Service Bulletins and other technical correspondence impacting customer equipment. Review and approve content & format of technical customer communications.

- Diagnose technical problems and determine nature and extent of needed repairs and appropriate Loram response.

Customer Service Management

- Develop and sustain customer files with appropriate information to document technical communications with customers and service history for their equipment.

- Represent the voice of the customer in Cross Functional Team meetings, design reviews, and other project team functions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical and/or Hydraulic Engineering, or related field

Experience:

- 5+ years Operating and maintenance of railroad or similar maintenance equipment

- Proven project management experience in managing and/or facilitating a team

- Strong background working cross functionallywith manufacturing, engineering, marketing, and other business functions

Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:

- Expertise in all Microsoft applications, general ERP systems (IFS knowledge a plus)

- Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to work and influence others from different functional areas at all levels in and outside the organization

- Must be a self-starter with the ability to proactively multitask, and is highly motivated with strong organizational skills

- Sound knowledge on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems and not limited to - Underframe, PLC, Engine, Generator, HMI operation, Air Compressors, Couplers, Wheel and Axles, Hydrostatic Traction Systems, Rail Profile Systems, Brakes, Pumps.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Knowledge of railroad operating and safety rules in India

- Experience working directly with customers as it relates to service work

- Strong knowledge of process improvement tools and techniques (lean, 6 Sigma)

- Skilled in developing meaningful presentations and presenting to a larger audience to all levels of the organization

- Capability of working with design documentation/engineering drawings
