Recruiting for : Bihar Vikas Mission, Government of Bihar.

The contract period of employment shall be for 11 months with Govt. of Bihar and can be Renewed/Extended.

Gross Salary per month : Rs. 148,500 /-

Work Location: Patna, Bihar

Position Name:- Siltation and Canal Management Expert

Reports to:- Principal Secretary - Water Resources Department

Essential :

- Bachelor's degree or higher (full time) in Civil Engineering / Geology / Environmental Science / Environmental Engineering.

- Minimum 10 years of post-qualification experience in canal and / or siltation management

Preferred :

- Less than 70 years of age as on 1st January 2019.

- Experience in construction and / or retrofitting of dams / canals / reservoirs / river banks to manage the sediment they accumulate.

- Proven track record of managing / advising / working on canal and siltation management projects / programs / initiatives with state / central government organizations / bilateral / multilateral organizations.

- Master's degree or higher (full time) in Environmental Sciences / Geology / Geosciences / Earth Sciences / Water Resource Management / Civil Engineering.

- Certificates / Courses in relevant areas will add weight to the candidature.

- Honors / Awards / recognized publications in relevant area will be an added advantage

Key Accountabilities :

Strategizing and Expert Advisory

- Design DPRs and manage engineering works like dams, canals, reservoirs along rivers and lakes that may be affected by erosion processes, sediment transport and deposition.

- Review existing status of siltation management in rivers/dams/canals of the State and advise the Department team on how to expedite the process of de-siltation of dams/canals for active flood protection.

- Undertake field visits, site surveys, research and analysis to find innovative and sustainable solutions for minimizing the negative impacts of erosion and sedimentation on river banks, irrigation patterns, housing settlements etc.

- Strengthen the overall flood forecasting, and flood and sediment management capacity in Bihar by training concerned Department staff and enhancing their knowledge, understanding and capacity of flood, canal and sediment management.

- Liaise with relevant officials in the concerned Department to develop ideas and plans to address other Departmental priorities related to canal and siltation management and undertake strategic and operational planning exercises.

- Collaborate with National and State level bodies such as National Disaster Management Authority National River Conservation Directorate, Central Water Commission etc. to facilitate appropriate siltation management, conserve water resources and prevent floods.
