Transformer Electrical Designer (10-15 yrs)
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Design & Innovation :
- Develop transformer electrical designs and winding configurations for power, distribution, furnace, dry-type, and special-application transformers
- Collaborate with R&D to implement continuous improvements, minimizing losses and increasing efficiency
- Ensure compliance with international standards (IEC, BS, ANSI, IS, EN 50588-1 Ecodesign)
2. Technical Specification & Documentation :
- Create detailed electrical specifications, schematic drawings, and winding diagrams.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive BOMs, design protocols, and update technical documentation.
3. Testing & Validation :
- Support type tests and routine test planning in Company's in-house NABL-accredited lab (e.g. impulse, temperature-rise, dielectric)
- Analyze test data to validate compliance and inform design refinements.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration :
- Work with procurement, production, QA/QC, and project teams to ensure design manufacturability.
- Coordinate with client-side engineers, utilities, and technology partners (e.g., Schneider, ABB) .
5. Field Support & Commissioning :
- Provide off-site or onsite technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Diagnose and resolve on-field electrical issues and adapt designs based on feedback.
6. R&D & Innovation Projects :
- Contribute to R&D projects including green and low-loss transformers, solar/wind transformer designs, and amorphous/3-phase pad-mounted units
- Participate in initiatives like copper drawing automation and twin-conductor innovations
7. Compliance & Quality Standards
- Ensure designs meet ISO 9001:2015 QMS, Ecodesign, and international certifications .
- Maintain strict documentation protocols and corrective action records.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- B.E./M.E. in Electrical Engineering (focus on power systems or machines).
- 10- 15 years- experience in transformer electrical design, preferably 10kVA- 160MVA, up to 220kV class.
- Proficiency in transformer design tools and CAD software.
- Strong knowledge of standards (IEC, BS, ANSI, IS, EN).
- Analytical mindset with experience in test data interpretation.
- Exposure to eco-friendly transformer development and renewable energy applications.
- Excellent cross-functional coordination and communication skills.
