Transmission Line/Tower Design (14-18 yrs)
The incumbent will be responsible for leading the design, analysis, and optimization of high-voltage transmission towers. This role involves overseeing a team of engineers, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications, and driving innovation in structural design. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in structural engineering and a deep understanding of power transmission infrastructure
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To lead the structural design and analysis of transmission towers using industry-standard software and manual calculations ensuring they are structurally sound, cost-effective, and meet required specifications.
- Perform structural analysis of designs using software such as PLS-TOWER, STAAD, or similar.
- Conduct load, stress, and vibration analysis to ensure structures can withstand environmental factors such as wind, ice, and seismic activity.
- Evaluate client requirements, project scope, and technical documents to ensure feasibility and alignment with company objectives.
- Interpret and apply electrical and mechanical engineering codes to design transmission line components.
- Keep up-to-date with relevant technical standards, construction practices, and regulatory changes.
- Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to ensure that design specifications are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stay updated with advancements in transmission tower design, materials, and software tools, and implement necessary improvements.
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines (electrical, civil) to ensure the integration of structural components.
- Use design software like AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, and other relevant programs for drafting and modeling designs.
- Perform 3D modeling of transmission structures and perform virtual simulations to evaluate the behavior under different conditions.
- Research and propose innovative design solutions to improve the efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of transmission line structures.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor / master's degree in civil/Structural/Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 15-18 Years of experience in transmission line design with demonstrated leadership roles.
- Proficiency with engineering tools / software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and TOWER
- Strong understanding of transmission line construction practices, materials and industry standards
