Job Purpose: To lead the Fertilizer Unit of the company, and to ensure targeted production capacity, optimized cost with high quality standards and adherence to safety & all compliances.

Core Responsibilities

1. Develop annual production plan and budget to achieve the business target (daily, quarterly & annual) and to increase the production volume while minimizing costs and maintaining high quality

2. Formulate and Implement strategies for improving the Fertilizer plant, identify improvement areas and projects that can be taken up to improve production volume, process efficiency or cost optimization

3. Lead the Bagging & Utilities processes, ensuring availability of day-to-day Production requirements such as air, water/ chilled water etc. and bagging of the fertilizer as per the inputs received from the Marketing Department

4. Oversee planning and implementation of maintenance schedules and shutdowns to enhance machine uptime, reduction in mean time between repetitive failures, contingency planning to ensure business continuity

5. Conduct research and identify new opportunities/projects.

6. Monitor adherence to SOPs defined for all the manufacturing processes; plan and organize process improvements to optimize production cost, quality and capacity utilization

7. Review daily, weekly and monthly production MIS reports to match actual performance vis-- -vis the targets and identify action steps to minimize variance

8. Review spare parts procurement plan in coordination with the purchase department, ensuring availability of quality spare parts at all time and minimize spare part costs. Identify new vendors and conduct technical evaluations, if required

9. Lead the development and update of storage processes for Phosphoric Acid, Ammonia and Fertilizer to ensure effective & safe storage at the site

10. Oversee loading and unloading of acid, Ammonia and fertilizer at the site including loading of acid on to the vessel as per the set process, shared requirement and compliance standards

11. Maintain and update safety information of all processes, plant and machinery, chemicals used in the department and communicate the same to the concerned persons; Implement suggestions for improving plant safety

12. Coordinate with external regulatory agencies on behalf of company and maintain healthy relationships with the NGOs and local community to avoid any production disruptions

14. Drive improvements in reliability for key aspects of machinery by completing reliability studies and identifying best planned maintenance strategy

15. Liaise with the marketing department to conduct trial manufacturing for new product grades and make changes to the manufacturing process for mass production of the same

16. Ensure that the team complies with safety, environment, statutory regulations and meet the required target

17. Ensure skill and knowledge enhancement of the team and actively participate in on-the-job training, mentoring and coaching of subordinates including succession plans.
